Weird Things You've Noticed Recently

I think cars are harder to steal these days. Maybe you don't need alarms anymore?

Some of them are easier to steal.

Apparently Hyundai/Kias can be stolen with USB cables.

Has anyone noticed that car alarms seem very scarce these days?

I used to hear them go off constantly, but now it's only once in a blue moon. What changed?

Also, you don't see those red, blinking lights on the dash anymore as a warning to anyone thinking about breaking into a car. Nor do you see those "clubs" that people used to put on their steering wheels to ward away aspiring thieves.

Alarms pretty much became ineffective unless you're jacking up the vehicle (tilt sensor) or breaking into steal something from inside (interior monitoring sensor) but even then you can have a lockable glovebox to hide things securely.

It's mostly advanced immobilisers, vehicle cameras and phone keys / gps tracking now making it a more effective method than a traditional alarm.

Or just don’t keep anything of value in your car. I have about $5 in quarters in my center dash for parking meters and fast food drive thru a that is probably the only shiny thing a junkie may be enticed to break in to get. A 16 year old car with dirt and no “bling” factors helps as well. I like no car debt and ability to pay down my mortgage and watch my net worth increase every month way better that a nice ride and street cred. but poor.

I see clubs frequently on newer Toyota Rav4s.
A girl I know who has one explained it thusly: doesn't matter how much insurance you have, if it gets stolen there are basically none available to replace it (wait time something like 18-24 months). So they do whatever they can to dissuade all but the most motivated/equipped car thieves.

I thought I was the only guy I know with no car debt.

I own two fun cars I paid cash for but my daily driver I purchased last year I have at a 4% rate and I can earn more than that on my cash with a bs savings account. So as much as I hate debt it doesn't always make sense to buy cash...as everything it's situation dependent.

I'm noticing on reddit a lot of commenters, whether they be women or bots or whatever, are saying they're afraid of having sex now that abortion is illegal because Trump won (even though I'm sure it's still legal in many blue states, but every red state have blue cities) or they refuse to have sex, citing the Korean 4B movement.

What's interesting to me is how sexually liberated women have been since Roe v Wade, and how promiscuous they got, and it makes me wonder, was it all because they could get an abortion? With abortion illegal, do women suddenly become chaste and monogamous again? I wonder how much of women's behavior throughout history was simply because they didn't have access to abortion. Birth control may be a big part of it, but the ability to simply get rid of a baby before it's born is a whole different level. It's also telling that a lot of women (certainly not all, maybe not even most) see a pregnancy as fully their body, like how a wife will see all of her husband's money as "our" money but her money is hers.

Like everything with these women, it's all just hysterics, and the only 4B movement they are going to do is eat 4 burgers a day.

I agree that their sexual liberation hinges on abortion. No one wants to use condoms, and all other birth control methods can fail and/or have severe side effects.

One noticing. I’ve been road tripping along the Southeastern Coast. So far I’ve stopped in Savannah and St. Augustine. In my hometown pride flags are everywhere. Especially the new black brown tyranny pride flags. I’ve seen ZERO in these cities. It’s a relief because I’ve grown to seen that a foreign occupation flag.

Travel continues - Daytona Beach - not one of those stupid flags in sight. But they’re everywhere in my home town!?!? I don’t get it.

I go to some local comedy show and the host is a black dude. Btw, some of the comics are blatantly Trumper white dudes but they just take pot shots at each other as a laugh and we’re all chilling afterwards. Back home these guys would be laying into each other.

Que Jack Skellington “What’s this” noises. I need to get out of my Blue State. Well - we went red in 2024 :) I live in what they call the blue wall.

Just thought this Xpost from another thread fit here quite well. I emphasized a couple of words below.

Strange story I have today. I posted this meme a week ago when arguing with an atheist, and I went to go find it to post it again in a similar topic. It completely disappeared from my computer, I can't find it. I had to look it up on google and then use the wayback machine to access the tumblr page it was originally posted on in 2015 or so. Very strange, and rather annoying. I like having my memes archived together by date.

I couldn't even find the place I originally posted it. All the notifications for that argument are just completely gone. It's weird. Really weird.
