The Venezuela Thread

I don't know for a fact, but I think he is complicit in the Smartmatic voting machines used to steal the election from Trump in 2020. That is an act of war right there. Of course Trump needs to be arresting a lot of people in the US for this as well as in Caracas. Some say Maduro will spill the beans on the election fraud, which will unravel the case in the US as well, and bring down all the election fraudsters.

Also, Maduro has been cooperating with Russia and China to try to arm itself against a US attack, which violates the Monroe doctrine. Finally, Venezuela nationalized property from US oil companies, which is a legitimate grievance. Then you have the drugs. I'm certain Maduro has been complicit in allowing a variety of illegal drugs to be sent from Venezuela to the US.

I think these are the major grievances that Trump can use to justify this act. Beyond that, the simple logic of Great Power politics applies. Everybody else in the world seems to be grabbing territory. The US might as well play the same game.
Those are some serious claims, if these claims are all true I dont have a problem with how Trump acted and I probably would have done the same in his shoes (maybe worse), so in other words now its Trumps turn to mess with his elections😂

Interesting thought. I remember when I asked my Sunday School teacher if war was a sin. Looking back he seemed surprised by that question coming from such a young kid and didn't appear to know how to respond. He eventually said that war was a "result of sin." For some reason that made sense to me.
The first crusades were 100% justified as an example, you find men of God in the bible who fought wars, we still have to conduct ourselves with great honor and restraint and even a just war when soldiers from Christian lands came back they had to do 3 years of penance

Traveller vloggers are worth more than gold sometimes, use them, it's free intel.
There is always someone, somewhere who's vlogging from a place of your interest, when you need it. That person may speak some crazy language you never heard of but it's not a problem these days.

This was just naked imperialism, straight up international gangsterism by the biggest, baddest, and most ruthless gang on the planet: the United States Government. This is no different than the mafia shaking down a successful business, the owner refusing to pay, and then that owner suddenly having a "mysterious accident" or going missing. All this nonsense about Maduro being some sort of criminal or running a drug cartel is just that; this was blatantly just a power play. They did it simply because Venezuela has something they wanted, and they calculated that they could take it without much difficulty.

The long-term fallout of this operation is of course impossible to predict (i.e. a Venezuelan migrant crisis, a possible Venezuelan civil war or prolonged insurgency, similar regime change operations undertaken in other countries), but in the short term a success like this always looks like a win. I wouldn't have supported something like this based on principles of non-intervention, so all I can do is shake my head. But the reality is that this is simply what international power politics looks like, and has always looked like. There is no morality among great powers, nor are there principles. There are only interests and capabilities. One dog or another will always be the biggest and the meanest on the block, and he will do as he pleases to the others, until another dog takes his place. And if you are that big, mean dog, and you don't take advantage of your strength while you have it, you are doing yourself a disservice. It's very easy to disapprove of a lot of the things Trump has been doing lately, but he seems to at least recognize this basic fact of great power politics, for better or worse.

Don't you mean Israel, not USG?

Maduro's first statements in court

“I was captured at my home in Caracas, Venezuela,” Maduro declared, maintaining his innocence in the U.S. drug-terrorism case.

Maduro stated: “I am innocent, I am an honest man, I am the president. I am the president of Venezuela, and I consider myself a prisoner of war. I was taken from my home in Caracas.”

He told the court that he had not previously seen the indictment and was unaware of his legal rights.

Maduro’s wife, Cilia Flores, also pleaded not guilty to charges of illegal cocaine trafficking in the U.S., Reuters reports.

Both Maduro and Flores are requesting consular assistance from the Venezuelan embassy.

Meanwhile back in Venezuela...

Trump couldve sent Maduro to some international court (or create one) for crimes against humanity. Theres probably tons of evidence of torture, assasinations etc. At least mantain some facade of rule of law.

Maduro is communist scum.

Seems a second operation might be in the works by US military to consolidate power.

Btw if they really want to punish maduro put his wife with him in the same cell. Lool. I think she is a lawyer imagine the pain he would suffer.

Pompeii roman general:
  • Stop quoting laws to us, we carry swords! “Οὐ παύσεσθε,” εἶπεν, “ἡμῖν ὑπεζωσμένοις ξίφη νόμους ἀναγινώσκοντες;” Plutarch, Lives. Pompey 10.3.2. To the Mamertines in Messana, complaining about Pompey's legal jurisdiction after their city was retaken during the civil warfare. Lit.: "'Will you not give up,' he said, 'reading laws to us men girt with swords?'"
