"The situation in the Kharkov direction as of 16:00 /Moscow time/ May 11, 2024

By the middle of the second day of the Russian operation to create a buffer zone in the border area of the Kharkov region, it became clear that the enemy had come to its senses and began to take measures to resist Russian troops. We wrote yesterday that the Russian group of troops only cleared fields and ruined villages where there were no serious fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yes prisoners were taken, but from Territorial Defense Forces - the main fortified areas are further to the south.

Since night, the enemy began to carry out counter-assault operations, the use of FPV drones and "Baba Yaga" octocopters, and indiscriminate shelling of the Belgorod region and sabotage actions intensified.

Despite statements of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about successful counterstrike, Russian troops repulsed the enemy's counterattacks and moved on.

On the eastern flank, an attack on Vovchansk began from three directions - northwest, north and northeast (Pic.3).
- From the direction of Hatyshche (northwest) assault detachments of the Russian Armed Forces managed to get hold of the outskirts of the city and reach the outskirts of the Korolenko Street. There, on the northern outskirts, one of the border guard soldiers was captured.
- From the direction of Pletenivka (north) Russian tropps advanced along the forest belts, to the vicinity of the old Vovchansk airfield and the furniture factory. At the moment the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being hit by fire.
- In the northeast, the village of Tykhe, where the prisoners were taken the day before, has been cleared. After clearing the settlement, the assault continued on the Vovchansk farmsteads and, simultaneously along the bed of the Volchaya River along the Zarechnaya Street to Vovchansk itself from the northeast.

The situation in the city itself is still hidden by the “fog of war”, and from the footage available on the Internet, there is flight of local residents and looting. Evacuation of the city was announced during the day.
And according to unconfirmed information, the fighting is already shifting to the city center.

In the central sector (Pic.2), Russian troops reached the Starytsya-Izbytske line and suppressed enemy firing points in those settlements. There is no progress towards Buhrovatka from Ohirtseve yet, as well as movement towards Ternova.

️On the western flank (Pic.1).
- Russian troops, after repelling enemy counterattacks in the direction of Strilecha, advanced to the village of Hlyboke. After clearing the settlement, battles broke out for the "Lira-1" gardening cooperative - the actual outskirts of the town of Lyptsi.
- Combat operations continue in the vicinity of Morokhovets and Olinikove. As for the village of Lukyantsi, it is still under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - the North group of troops has approached along the bed of the Lipets River, and fighting is taking place on the approaches to the village.
- From the direction of Zelene, it has not yet been possible to advance to neighboring Neskuchne.
- As for Hoptivka, the situation in this area is shrouded by the "fog of war".

Apparently, the command of the North group of troops of the Russian Armed Forces made a decision to fragment the Ukrainian group of troops by cutting bridges and cutting off communications.

For now Lyptsi and Vovchansk are targets that should be taken first. Most likely, the first area of consolidation of the Russian army will be built along the Lyptsi-Vesele-Ternova-Starytsya-Hatyshche-Vovchansk line. But taking into account the nearby ravines and forests that are adjacent to the specified line, the task of the next stage of the offensive could be the occupation of Rubizhne and an offensive from Hoptivka.

At the moment, the offensive continues in a limited area: it is still unclear whether active actions will be taken in the west, in the direction of Zolochiv and Velyka Pysarivka, from where attacks on the Russian borderland have been carried out over the past year and a half."
