The Iran and Wider Middle East Thread

Unless this becomes an entire war, I guess that remains to be seen. Does Israel respond and if so, does it just escalate from there?

Escalate ? Israel already decimated Iranian high command, and struck multiple targets including military bases and nuclear facilities. And it wasn't just last night's attack, they continued to strike during the day, today and will probably continue their attacks over the coming days. Iran doesn't have much choice - they will either have to commit to war, or tap out.

Correct, yes, I figured they were tapping out and that is why it took so long to respond.

My guess is one of two things are true.

#1) Trump/Israel told Iran they could strike certain places back, to save face, and then to agree to the nuclear treaty and not look so weak in losing this disagreement.

#2) Russia and/or China gave Iran the green light to attack and promised to offer some kind of support in what will cause a large war in the region.

If it is #2, then Trump just walked us into a whole new war and a rather large one at that. If it is #1, then this will blow over in a few days.

Tel Aviv right now...

The former prince (first born son) of the last Shah (king) of Iran (Persia) weighs in.

(If Iran truly falls, the world elites will most probably re-install him, and his wife & kids, and his 86 year old mother, as the official royal family)

In their reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons, Ali Khamenei and his incompetent and criminal thugs have dragged Iran into a war and put the Iranian people in harm’s way. They are responsible. But the regime is weak and divided. It could fall. As I have told my compatriots: Iran is yours and yours to reclaim. I am with you. Stay strong and we will win.I have told the military, police, and security forces: break from the regime. Honor the oath of any honorable serviceman. Join the people. To the international community: do not throw yet another lifeline to this dying, terrorist regime. That’s what the Iranian people are asking and that’s in the best interest of peace. Long live Iran,Reza Pahlavi

The real divide isn’t between people who support Israel and people who support Iran or the Palestinians. The real divide is between those who casually encourage violence, and those who seek to prevent it — between warmongers and peacemakers. Who are the warmongers? They would include anyone who’s calling Donald Trump today to demand air strikes and other direct US military involvement in a war with Iran. On that list: Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Rupert Murdoch, Ike Perlmutter and Miriam Adelson. At some point they will all have to answer for this, but you should know their names now.
