carnivore diet discussion thread

I've been eating like garbage lately. Lots of candy and sweets especially. Had a frozen pizza last night. Crazy how much different my body feels.

I don't care if it's too much protein, my body feels amazing when I stick to the carnivore meals. And fruit is perfect for snacks.

Paleo may be sustainable. Mediterranean may be the best all-around healthy diet out there. Keto and Carnivore IMO are just quick natural diet fixes for weight loss and eliminating diabetic issues. Not sustainable for long term. I can’t see eating bacon and butter daily as a good thing, and you need the high fats on those diets.

My goal is get my weight to start with a 1 and once I hit that go mediterranean. How I grew up eating then I got atomized and pizza and wings became my comfort food. Goal is to turn a boat that’s been adrift for a decade around. Carnivore is just so bland and unsustainable.

That sounds like a good plan to me. Wish you the best of luck.

I'm Keto / Carnivore.

Ultimately everyone is in the same boat - they need to listen to their body and forget what everyone else says works. Limit or erase processed garbage in your diet and eat as natural or whole food as possible. That's the starting point.

But also, there's no point imagining if something will be bad for you or not sustainable in the long run.
The body is an incredible machine if you actually listen to it - what gives you energy, makes you sick, lifts your mood, makes you lose weight or feel full. Each person has to have the courage to adapt and change.

The amount of crap we've been told is good for you constantly changes anyway.

The nicer grocery store had a sale on top sirloin, so I bought a couple steaks. It's better quality meat and the difference is absolutely noticeable. Very delicious. I also bought pasture raised eggs and they taste better than regular eggs, although not as noticeable as the beef. Steak and eggs is amazing.

I'm going to try and only buy single ingredient foods from now on. And make my meals a little smaller so I can keep buying the better beef and eggs. Maybe even get bison sometimes.

Free range chicken eggs (from a farm or backyard) are significantly better than what you can buy from a store. Even the ones from a store that say “cage free or free range” will probably just be out in a crowded dirt “prison yard” setup. The yolk will be a deeper orange color from try free range vs pale yellow from stores and the taste is better. Don’t quote me on this but I also thought I heard that free range eggs have higher % protein as well. Free range chickens go around eating grubs, worms, bugs, ticks etc and that is what produces the better taste and darker orange color yolk. The challenge most backyard enthusiasts (including myself on 2 separate attempts over the years) with letting your chickens free range is they get attacked by foxes and coyote so easily. If you can fence them in a large grassy area so they can still “eat ze bugs” with high fencing, that’s about the best you can do but nothing is full proof from predator attacks. Everyone I know has lost their flock to predators.

My tip is snake diet until you reach your target weight, but acknowledge that does not work for everyone. Refeeds with a protein focus.

Very thankful I don't have a "pizza and wings" inclination, just chocolate but I manage to keep it to 100 grams once or twice a week most of the time. Of course less when I'm trying to drop weight.

At work I was tempted with pastries and other unhealthy food. Said no to all of them.

I also thought it was interesting how people can think red meat is unhealthy, and that it isn't the processed food, sugar and seed oils that are responsible for heart problems. Lots of doctors are also pushing their drugs (statins) on people.

Temptations will always be there. Small steps. Keep moving forward!

The red meat discussions is interesting. On our farm we have Cows and treat them really well and we eat a lot of Beef.
I think everyone should spend time around animals they eat. Make you somewhat accountable, but mainly to understand. Cows take care of our land, they are cool, interesting and intelligent creatures. Have a lot of personailty and love Dogs.
They eat well, we take care of them, then we eat well. The better you treat them, the better they taste.

They give us more than enough meat. Even half a cow will last 2 people a long time, especially when you consider how many ways you can cook it. It doesn't take long to figure out this is the most practical, common sense option to eating . Best for land, animals and local community. It has worked that way for a long time. Not to mention the peace you get living this way.

But instead human beings are robbed of land, regulated environment, driven into cities and dependant on resources outside our control. It doesn't have to be that way.

I’ll try it. I looked into it, but sounds scary from all the criticism leveled at it.

Like all the criticism of the unvaccinated..

Anything that far from mainstream will get criticized.

However if you do experiment with it, stick with Cole Robinson's earlier videos he seems to have lost the plot in more recent times.

I’ll try it, but drinking salt water doesn’t seem safe.

That's however the wrong emphasis, it's basically fasting with some assistance from electrolytes and someone shouting at you.
At that concentration, if you don't mess up the recipe, it's not salt water. The other 3 chemicals mean that it doesn't even taste like salt. If you need to discuss it later:

For what it's worth I have both made it at home (the simple version without magnesium and boron) and used Cole's premade packets while travelling. No ill effects and goes down fine. In fact, it tastes even better if someone yells at you while you drink it since the mild salt flavor provides a pleasant distraction from being savagely berated.

Okay, maybe not that last part, but you get the idea.

I've been eating a lot of pork rinds lately. They are delicious and dogs go absolutely nuts for them.

Much better feeling than eating chips as well. Highly recommend for a snack.
