The Rest In Peace (RIP) Thread

I was never sure how to feel about David Lynch...
Probably for good reason. Talented enough guy for sure but too deep into the morose dark arts. Definitely a hedonist if not an outright anti-Christian. Very smart guy and I've seen some clips of him recently spitting various kinds of esoteric purple pill knowledge, but ultimately he failed to tell us all he knows about the JQ underworld via a Kubrick style Eyes Wide Shut. And so ultimately he failed society by producing over-sexualized male feminist "art" while taking his best real life "secret" stories of money, wealth, power, sexual deviancy, and corruption to the grave with him. Another "brave" and "daring" and "visionary" artist who only cared about himself and getting financing for his slightly above average films. You can't speak truth to power via art when you are beholden to the powers that be in order to make that art.

I've spent some time with his daughter and she is a decent, smart, nice person, but ultimately she suffers from the same type of liberal, feminist, deviant malaise as her father. This is best demonstrated in her violent, sado-masochistic, over-sexualized, and very dark film Boxing Helena.

RIP... May God rest his tortured soul.

Lynch was one of the best filmmakers who ever lived. I do agree with others that his productions were sometimes too dark. Eraserhead, for example, is just plain a depressing film. I just felt sorry for the baby/creature the whole time, and when you spend two hours just feeling sorry for something, it's hard to get inspired to rewatch. I haven't finished Blue Velvet because, similarly, despite it being impressive, I simply did not enjoy my time watching it.

Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive achieved the best balance imo. I think they are among the best movies/shows ever, and they are "normal" enough that I could watch them in any sort of mood.

The Elephant Man and The Straight Story are probably his two most approachable films, both great.

Then there's all Lynch's performances and cameos. He's definitely not an actor, he pretty much plays himself, but he somehow always steals the show. He's great in Louie (three episodes where Louie is training to take over for Letterman) and in Twin Peaks.

He was also a solid musician and used music very effectively in his movies. Just a great all-around artist and a true original.

SSPX Bishop Richard Williamson has passed away. May the Lord welcome his soul with open arms for staying true to Christendom and helping many Catholics and converts alike. He was a good spiritual leader and I can only pray that more like him emerge.

Non-Catholics will remember him mostly for his legitimate and vocal opposition to holocaustianity:
