The China Thread

You went from defending the CCP for regulating Christianity as a positive thing to "I'm sure they actually do persecute people who practice Christianity in a serious manner but so what?" real quick.
No, I didn't, and again, everyone can read my words and see you personal attacks is all you have left.

I said, they might do that, I don't know, it is possible they do it, but that it doesn't matter if they do it or not, because they are winning. This isn't an emotional debate about what you or they, think is right or wrong. Life doesn't work like that. In life might makes right, and whatever they are doing is working better than what we are doing, because they are absolutely crushing us. Which is why I asked, "what are you going to do about it?" because the answer is "we can't do anything about it because they are much more powerful than we are due to our own even more evil ways of handling things in the west has caused us to fall way too far behind".

You were suggesting that the CCP oversees Christianity in China and then said "It is a much better thing than what we find in 99% of the churches in the west."

People are calling you out specifically for your claim that Christianity under CCP control is better then it is in the west. You are responding by trying to change the topic into your usual "China will turn everyone into soylent green" spiel. Changing topic to deflect is something you commonly do when you can no longer defend your point. You'll be losing an argument and then you'll suddenly bust out a non sequitur like "Do you think voting will change anything/do you think Trump will change anything" when no one in the argument was talking about voting or Trump. Likewise, people are specifically challenging your stance on Christianity in China and you are all of a sudden changing the topic to how China is winning when no here is talking about whether China will "win" or not.

Yes, I agree, it is better than what we have. They have a country with a bright future. We have a country that is collapsing. Are you trying to say this isn't true? I sure hope not, but it appears that you are. Your feelings about what you think is better means absolutely nothing. Reality is, it is a war, and they are winning and that is the only thing in life that will matter.

I would think that as a Catholic you would want the church to be able to manage their own affairs like they do in the other countries in Asia without secular state interference - especially when the state is in China's case is officially atheistic.

It might be helpful to understand the Chinese government's attitude towards the Church by looking at Russia, where the government restricts the activities of Evangelicals:

They do this because they know that Evangelicals in Russia can be used as trojan horses to undermine their country, exactly like how foreign islamic salafists fostered anti-Russian feelings in Chechnya which degenerated into the Chechnian Wars.

Bald and Bankrupt has 4.5M followers on YT alone, so he is not hurting for cash. He is also not the kind of personality to get along with Chinese officials, who are insular and weary of characters like him.

B&B's schtick is pure condescension, his vids essentially boil down to going to distant lands and making fun of locals, his Indian trip reports in particular blew up. He went into China looking for some of the same, any elements to mock local culture. That's why he first went to that dwarf theme park.

However as the rest of his trip unfurled, he was pleasantly surprised by the quality and upkeep of Chinese cities and infrastructure as well as their affordability, showing off his £11 modern hotel room in Chongqing. He was also taken aback by the simple charm and friendliness of the locals he interacted with, like the seamstress in Chongqing, to which he was pretty patronizing, thinking she was hitting on him asking for his marital status, as often done in places like the Philippines, when in fact she was just politely asking about his trip in China.

The contrast between his trips in India, his online bread and butter, and that trip in China is very striking, and must have taken him aback. He went from jam-packed filthy archaic trains in India to state of the art modern comfort high speed trains that put those from his own country to shame. He went from people constantly being pushy and trying to scam him in India to laid-back, polite and friendly people across his Chinese trip, also noting their sense of civic duty, for instance noticing the lack of littering and people taking off their shoes before lying on public benches.

Bottom line, you're the one who is being manipulative here.

No, the world's largest Jewish supremacy project ever attempted is modern day America. Blackrock is bigger than the GDP of Germany, Japan and the UK combined.

Modern-day China is the most independent and sovereign country in the world today, completely unsubordinated to any foreign influence. Xi purged the globalists that were in high places over a decade ago.

Once again, your takes here are complete bunk.
Absolutely, China wipes the floor of America, they will dominate the landscape very soon no doubt about it, all i see in America is people of color, disease, decay, obesity, tattoos, strange paranormal behavior, a true laughing stock of a country, purely an economic zone and a passport

The article that talks about evangelicals being murdered by government agents because they had dollars in their pockets which was interpreted as them being American spies. Just so people reading this thread are clear about your stance, you are posting this article because you think this reflects what happens in China with how they treat churches and you think this is a positive?

^I haven't read that article, but did hear about evangelicals being harassed in Russia and looked for a quick example - too quickly. It turns out this article is about "occupied" Ukraine, not Russia., so a poor choice to illustrate my point about Evangelicals being harassed in Russia proper. Also that article is from a very biased anti-Russian source, I wouldn't trust its content.

This below is a better synopsis, from google AI, although the picture there is also pretty biased against Russia. The fact is, there is a strong link between foreign (mostly Americans/Anglos) missionaries and the US State Dept or NGO blob. But even for those who come in earnest without any blob background or baggage, they are still going to be resented by locals because they are acting in competition with or against the local national faith.

AI Overview

Evangelicals face significant harassment in Russia, both within the country's borders and especially in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, as part of a systematic campaign of religious repression
. Russian authorities often align the state with the Russian Orthodox Church, viewing Protestant and other non-Orthodox faiths as "nontraditional," "American propaganda," or even "extremist".

Harassment within Russia

  • "Illegal Missionary Activity" Laws: A 2016 law, part of a broader anti-terrorism package, introduced stringent restrictions on missionary activity, requiring official permission for any form of proselytizing. This has led to numerous fines and court cases against Evangelical Christians for activities as simple as distributing Bibles or Christian books, or holding worship services in private residences not officially registered as churches.
  • "Extremism" Designations: While Jehovah's Witnesses were banned as an "extremist organization" in 2017, the broad and vaguely worded anti-extremism laws are also used against other non-Orthodox groups. The Russian government declared the New Generation Evangelical Christian Church an "undesirable" group, leading to the imprisonment of a pastor in 2023 for social media posts.
    • Official and Public Discrimination: Local officials often discriminate against non-dominant denominations, and the state-controlled media contributes to a negative public perception.
    • Denial of Rights: Some religious communities face difficulties obtaining property for worship, encounter visa complications, and have limited access to state institutions like schools, prisons, or the military.
    • Anti-War Stance Persecution: Since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, some Protestant clergy and believers have faced persecution, including fines and imprisonment, for speaking out against the war. A Baptist man, Pavel Kushnir, died in a detention center in July 2024 after being arrested for anti-war statements on his YouTube channel.

China's next 10 year objective is to double its GDP per capita by 2035. Based on the success of all their previous plans, I don't doubt they will succeed. Granted they are starting from a much lower base, around $15k per capita, but the purchasing power in China for items like food, housing, healthcare, transport or education is several multiples higher than in the West.

In the West it is very unlikely that our purchasing power will be increasing in the decade to come.

The CCP will not sentence you to 15 years in jail for burning the gay flag.
Technically it was for trespassing and setting a fire on somebody else's property. I don't mind if it was uniformly applied to all church vandals.

Bald and Bankrupt travels from the Vietnam border to Chongqing:

Watched about 10 minutes. Proves RLOS right, not that many beauties, where da 8s, 9s. and 10s at? The men also, Polykleitos, or his other two friends, would snatch his hammer and chisel to chase them away if any dared to show up at his workshop.

They did a good job if people are to live like ants in a mega city, which is the norm for E. Asia. I prefer suburban/small town living and don't like public transport, no matter how nice it is, so I'd rather live where personal transportation makes the most sense.

You need an app (Alipay) to buy anything, from your morning coffee after you wake up, until you go to sleep, WiFi and cell signal tracking seems like nothing, they know where you are at all times, how much you spend, where you've been standing, to whom you've been talking, with whom you've slept, the distances you cover.

Kudos for removing one's shoes before laying on a bench- I scoff at the people who keep their shoes-on feet on the hassocks in church.

Seems China is an open air prison meets a labor camp.

The Amish are the best bellwether for religious freedom in America- if it's good enough for them, so it is for me.

The government has been building state sanctioned Protestant churches there since the 80s. All within the state, you know the rest...

The American "colonies" of Taiwan, S.Korea, and Japan are so much better to live in.

Will they be better to live in when the money printer of the west finally runs dry and they are on their own?
My old man would always say "he who has 'production' wins"- he meant manufacturing and agriculture a distant second, real things. Those countries have that, there will be demographic problems but humanity has dealt with that before.

The plan seems to be these countries are going to print lots of money to build sony and samsung factories stateside and will import their own products.

I don't think this is a very good plan. I'm guessing they're slated to be Chinese colonies soon. At some point it's just going to be comical. There's going to grooming gangs, and other western treats while across the pond the Chinese are going to be flying around in flying cars.

The chinese are OG asians. Its like Germany controlling Europe.

Come on. You don't get 15 years in jail for trespassing in a semi-public place like a church, they threw the book at him because burning the gay flag was a "hate crime". Had he grabbed and burned any other flag from that church he would have just gotten a slap on the wrist, if that.

Not if you're younger and not in the top 10%-25%, you would be faced with severe housing issues, long commutes, living in a shoebox far from the city center and having to work 2 or 3 jobs in order to try to save up for an apartment, particularly in Taiwan and S. Korea. They are on the same monetary and economic system that has created the same problem in the West, inflation, student loans, high housing costs etc. It's no surprise that Squid Game was made in Korea. China also has a youth unemployment problem, but it is a lower cost society with accessible housing.

It didn't used to be like this before covid and in fact it used to be very rough that people would tell you to stay away from certain areas. The transformation into a high-trust society happened near the end of covid.

Personal story. My wife had left her purse at a dessert shop in a mall in SZ. She had walked around for at least an hour before realizing she left it behind and when she went back, the table she was sitting at was completely untouched as if it was store policy.
Throwback to the days when member @expectation attempted to sell the board the lie that China simply *poof* transformed into a real high trust society couple years back, also a *poof* total cohencidence that this 'conclusion' coincided with one of the biggest CCP propaganda campaigns on the matter in recent years. Ergo yesterday Changs went to bed in a low trust society, today Changs *poof* woke up in a high trust society, only *poof* CIA operatives would go against this rocksolid narrative.

Quoted post is legit how dumb they think their audience is, although some of the more cognitively impaired Chuds might actually swallow it hook, line and sinker. Member E. did however provide a set of arguments and reasoning to substantiate his position, and these ranged from 'this just happened blo accept it blo, absolutely tlue blo', to a totally authentic anecdote about 'his wife and her bag'.

Ergo the China high trust story is that the Chinese for three years suffered being intermittently locked up in their shoebox sized apartments, were subjected to the biggest psychological warfare operation in human history, experienced a massive economic slump, then were dealt the introduction of intrusive mass surveillance measures, were encouraged to snitch on neighbor, friend and family, and had to endure mass violations of especially bodily and mental integrity in more than way imaginable.

The Chinese people suffered all that with seemingly no end in sight, up until the Beijing apparatchiks in early 2023 suddenly announced that Covid1984 would be downgraded from the Black Death to a regular and mild seasonal disease. Out the door went Zero Covid, and in came high trust society trustmebro. Aka the battered and mentally buck broken Changs simply stepped out of their crumbling styrofoam shoeboxes, looked into the watery spring sun, put on their triple masks anyway and then collectively decided to stop being a nation of swindling, lying and thieving clowns, to morph into upstanding, morally trustworthy and high trusting folks on the spot instead. Sorry G, I got some problems believing that.

The above testimony to the simplicity of CCP hypnotizers, blind loyalty of the doped up chuddy Chang simps, and an insult of the board's collective intelligence to boot. Meanwhile the videos just keep coming. Nothing says high trust more than collapsing and slowly dying in a hospital and whilst doctors, nurses and patients alike literally climb over your helpless and perishing body. China is a zero trust society.

The Hongqi bridge was recently completed in China. It's one of the world's highest bridges, and has been touted as an example of China's advancement and superiority.

It just collapsed. 😲

Edit: When I searched for the Hongqi Bridge, I got a link for the Huajiang Canyon Bridge which was also recently completed and very high. I think this bridge got a lot of attention, and the Hongqi bridge was not as famous. It's still a cautionary tale of hubris.

Serpentza and laowhy86 recently had a good breakdown on shoddy Chinese building practices, the real estate scams, the corruption & bribing and ultimately addressing the underlying immorality of Chinese society, aka noone gives a shit if you die whilst they make a handful of coins extra.

The boys use a Hebei apartment casestudy as a guiding principle, in the video below a Chinese leasee complains about her newly constructed apartment block which is showing cracks in ceiling, supporting columns, floors and walls, has cement crumbling and inner walls collapsing, and the property's garage has also sunk. The real restate developer, construction company and maintenance tried to hide it by painting it over and putting drywall against the walls. The woman is desperate because her life savings are in this tofu dreg apartment (block) and the mortgage is on her name, she has nowhere else to go.

The whole ordeal below just screams China.
