MLB is now in full swing with bettors. Gambling (and profits) is more important to the league than game integrity.
But we knew that from the 90s steroid scandal, right Commish Selig?
Well no, they were permanently banned, this new ruling changed that. They banned them until their death so I think that's a bit of stretch.
In regards to steroids, if athletes want to destroy their bodies to better entertain me then by all means go for it. I never understood why people get so worked up over it.
Well no, they were permanently banned, this new ruling changed that.
It has to with cheating and the integrity of the game. Cheating and profits were/are more important, so be it. It's entertainment not sport - more akin to WWE.
But I agree, if athletes want to kill themselves for my entertainment by using steroids or smashing their bodies against each other or smashing their head into someone else, do it!
Though ironically I don't watch anymore and haven't for a while![]()
I do like baseball though, more than other sports at least, it's still more a game that requires some craft and intelligence rather than just who is the biggest neanderthal wins.

Baseball is my favorite too. It's getting to point where it pretty much is whoever is the biggest wins at just about every position.
You don't see as many Morandini's or Larry Bowa's or little guys who can steal bases.
And the game suffers. Most at bats are K, W or HR. There's less action now - turning double into triples, base stealing, throwing out runners trying to stretch out a base....
Steroids (with the addition of New Stats Inc.) helped push into that. It's a shame.
I still play and am a pretty good 5 tool player - though I used to more of the scrappy fast line drive defensive guy. I've bulked up a bit recently (non-steroids) so I guess I'm the problem too![]()
