Her husband runs the Institute for the Study of War, a well-funded neocon thintank. She'll be ok. I don't think "her conscience will catch up to her." Gonzalo Lira (RIP) had a pretty good insight to her motives. She's done her part to fulfill them. She might as well dig up the "mission complete" banner - Ukraine is wrecked.
It's one of those times when I can't tell whether it's real or fake. And I'm afraid to check...

I forgot that one oddity in US reporting vs international is that when someone is fired from a public office, it is almost always reported as a "retirement" or resignation in US media. The same incident is often reported accurately in international media as a sacking or firing.
I've since read some comments that Nuland was indeed fired by Anthony Blinken. Speculation is that they could be winding the war down, and this was her pet project. She is also entangled into the secret research sites spread throughout the Ukraine that the US was running (I've heard strong suspicions that the Covid-19 lab leak came from here, but also much worse stuff).
She is being replaced with a huge China warmonger, so perhaps we are seeing a shift from Russia Bad to China Bad. Should make the boomers happy, with the upcoming election and all.

The USA began providing Ukraine with Abrams tanks in February. Russia has already destroyed more than 10% of them.
They took one out this week with a single shot in a tank duel with a T-72B3.

Here's Mearsheimer (who understands Russia well, but is possibly some type of non-idiot deep state, and is also Jewish and seems to be pushing for animosity with China) talking about the failings of the Ukrainian intervention (he predicted this over a decade ago before the Maidan coup).
He's more of a Kissinger type. Very competent, ostensibly concerned about what is best for America, salvaging what we can, despite our faults (as compared to someone on the dissident right that prefers to see us continue to blunder so the entire Evil Empire falls apart).
He says (and he has been consistent on this for a long time) that the US cannot be victorious in Ukraine, and that the US must push away from its alliance with Ukraine. If this doesn't happen, he sees the Ukraine collapsing and a coup as a possibility.
He's claiming that while the insane neo-con type speeches are continuing publicly, that privately there is growing talk in Washington about scaling back this failed endeavor. With the recent firing of Nuland, and the growing mainstream deep state statements coming out of places like WP and NYT, this seems to be happening.

By the way, Zelensky is about to be illegally occupying the office of president. The Ukrainian constitution allows elections to be delayed due to emergency twice. The second extension expires at the end of the month. Wikipedia will surely edit this entry soon, as Zelensky is not going to allow elections:
Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Ukraine on 31 March 2024 according to the constitution, which mandates elections be held on the last Sunday of March of the fifth year of the incumbent president's term of office.
In November 2023 Zelenskyy said "now is not the right time for elections"[8] and asked the Parliament to approve an extension of martial law for another 90 days, until 14 February 2024. Martial law was extended for another 90 days in February 2024.
By the way, he only won with 30% of the vote in his last election.

Most substantial is an interview by Bill Walton with Steve Bryer, a former Arms Treaty specialist for the US. Bryer estimates 600-800k Ukrainian deaths, with 1M+ wounded Ukrainians. Ukraine can hardly recruit, they have expended western resources, and NATO armies are woefully incapable of proper help. He's even sympathetic to Putin's forbearance, endlessly turning a blind eye to various "mercs" from NATO aligned countries. He believes Zelensky's time is limited and the Ukrainian people (and more so the Army) are sick of the war. Bryer gives a softly stated but straightforward assessment of the situation. He appears as baffled by the stupidity of it all as we do here.

I don't believe anything they say at this point.
And it makes me think more and more that everything we are told about WW2 was a lie as well.
The "allied" powers were the ones pushing war, and Germany was the reasonable actor, defending the German speaking peoples. Why else would they let the British army escape unharmed at Dunkirk?
