The USA had several abilities that made it the pre-eminent world super power since WW2. Some of them were:
(1) manufacturing and new technologies, like computer software and chips that enabled the technological control grid surveillance state
(2) culture or soft power that was exportable for the purpose of creating new markets where its products could be sold in order to expand the control grid
(3) military to enforce sanctions and punish sovereigns
(4) world reserve currency
If there is anyone in control who wants to remain in control, then all of these need to gradually transition to some other state entity for the next big thing to emerge because:
(1) Globalization reduced US manufacturing through remote outsourcing Chinese slave labor and also local outsourcing via mass migration.
(2) If you saw any of the Oscars you know that there is no market outside of the woke West for the DEI garbage that is being produced.
(3) The US military command is showing weakness in its failure in the GWOT, e.g. the withdrawal from Afghanistan, etc., and it has also failed to remain up to date with recent weapons like hypersonic missiles or Iranian drones, not to mention Ukranian & Russian anti-drone advances. It is also too thinly spread around the world.
(4) The US dollar was made the world reserve currency in much simpler times and it still required a crisis as big as WW2 in order to establish such a universally accepted monetary exchange standard. There are now too many dependencies on the USD to make even a gradual change to another currency, even if there were a better choice, without there being a crisis at least equivalent to WW2 or Covid, but probably exceeding those in size and scope.
Iran taking control of the Strait of Hormuz and demanding payment for hydrocarbons and/or shipping in anything but petrodollars could signal the upcoming transition to a different monetary standard. Perhaps some kind of interim crisis will happen in order for there to be "two weeks the flatten the exchange rate."

The USAF has relied mostly on stand-off weapons dropped from a distance, this incident might be the result of bombing runs going deeper into Iranian territory as a result of diminishing inventory of stand-off weapons.
The point of stand-off weapons - combined with stealthy platforms and SEAD - is to soften-up enemy air defenses so you can utilize numerically-superior stand-in capabilities (4th-gen aircraft, 'dirty' 5th-gen aircraft, and glide bombs). Its not necessarily a result of diminishing stocks, rather just protocol.

Think of the Russian campaign in Ukraine, 4 years into this and after several thousand strikes, they still don't send their jets beyond the frontlines.
