In the absence of a Supreme Leader Israel instead targeted Iran's current apparant acting Head of State, Ahmed Hijazi. Hijazi was targeted in Tehran and his official position is the Deputy Chief of Staff. He at least was de facto Chief of Staff because his pre-decessor Mousavi also perished in February 28 strike.
The attack occurred in the same leadership compound Khamenei was struck in. On February 28 bunkerbusters weren't used because Khamenei was expected in the residential area, thereby leaving the bunker system under the residence undamaged. Apparently the surviving Iranian leadership therefor started using the bunkers again. Several other members of the Iranian leadership were in the bunker as well.
It's not yet confirmed whether the strike was successful.

This war so far reminds me of Dana White's ridiculous PowerSlap sport, where two competitors take turns slapping the hell out of each other. In this sport, there isn't even the pretense of putting up any defense. You simply must absorb your opponent's blows and then counter with blows of your own.
