Iran-Israeli Conflict Thread

I get that they're white, and I'm sure most IRL are great people, but the Baltic people I encounter on the Internet are unhinged and often deeply unpleasant NAFO types. In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, Solzhenitsyn wrote the protagonist had never met a bad Estonian. If he were around to register an X account, he'd probably revise that novel.

Bloomberg sounds the alarm over interceptor shortages. There will be none left to take on China!

Poor Zelensky!

Confirmation that interceptors are running out. Senator Chris Murphy has stated that in a closed-door congressional meeting, the administration told them the US will not be able to shoot down Iranian drones launched at Middle Eastern allies in the short-term. As long as Iran can keep up the Shahed attacks, these countries, and the world economy face big problems.

A drone carrier ship that Centcom claimed to have hit is allegedly on the move, 10km from the port of Bandar Abbas.

A Turkish reporter claims that Israeli agents put tape over the cameras on his phone and were able to unlock it without knowing the password.

US/Israeli jet shot down over Iran?

Maybe a US jet? Announcement of Kuwaiti friendly fire incoming....

A senior Kurdish official has announced the intention to begin an offensive against Iran. Will the chickens finally come home to roost for the Kurds?

A Qatari aluminium smelter that provide 9% of the World's supply has shut down due to the gas production shutdown.

LOOOL! Vance did not think this statement through!

Every person I have met in real life from the baltics has been quite charming and friendly. The internet is not real life.

The US Navy struck the Iranian frigate IRIS Dana off the coast of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Navy started rescue operations once it was made aware the Iranian frigate is sinking.

Update: the Iranian frigate IRIS Dana was allegedly sunk by a USN submarine. 100-130 Iranian sailors are allegedly missing, it's the first submarine kill since the 1982 Falklands War.

Likewise the F35 made its first air-to-air kill by downing a Yak-130, according to the IAF. Iranian fighter jets have in several occasions gone airborne

The IDF has given an evacuation order for the entirety of Southern Lebanon, including areas beyond the Litani River. The IDF's advance into Lebanon so far is slow yet faces little resistance. Hezbollah is firing sending occasional drones/missiles over the border.

The IDF has reached the town of residential area of Khiam already, which is their maximum, or even slightly beyond their maximum advance in this sector during the 2024 War. Hezbollah is either baiting or in a much worse state than previously expected.

Vovan and Lexus pranked Reza Pahlavi. They claimed to be advisors of the German chancellor, and one of them, dressed up with a famous hairstyle and moustache, introduced himself as Adolf. Pahlavi did not twig as to what was going on and was very happy to hear that Germany was ready to attack Iran.

The Turkish government has announced that an Iranian ballistic missile was targeted from Turkish territory. It's the first time Iranian projectiles have been intercepted from Turkish territory, the downed missile landed in Syrian territory near the Turkish border. Missile was engaged by (non-Turkish?) NATO forces.

Senator Chris Van Hollen issues a damning statement after the Senate classified briefing:

"Just a little earlier I got out of the administrations briefing to the Senate about the situation in Iran. And what we are hearing behind closed doors is essentially the same as what we are hearing in the public domain, which is complete incoherence.

No explanation for why Donald Trump broke his promise to the country when he said he wasn't going to drag us into additional wars, and constantly shifting narratives about what this is all about, right?

Even today in the Oval Office, you know, the president was spinning all sorts of rationales. On the one hand, they say it is to go after Iran's nuclear program. We know Iran has no nuclear weapons capability. After all, we know the president told the country that it had been decimated last year.

So then, they say, we are going to go after Iran's ballistic missiles. Well, Iran has no ballistic missiles that can get anywhere close to the United States. Zero.

And, of course, then Donald Trump said he was going to liberate the people of Iran. But if you look at the public reporting about the CIA's assessment, it says that they concluded that if you get rid of the Iranian leadership, you're very likely to get a much more, even more radical group in their place.

But we do know from Secretary Rubio that Netanyahu decided to strike Iran. And so here we are, doing what Netanyahu said he wanted to do for 40 years, which was to attack Iran. It's just that Netanyahu had not found a president stupid enough to drag the United States into that war before. And now Donald Trump has done it, and they don't have a clue as to what the end game is."

Iran war heralds era of AI-powered bombing quicker than ‘speed of thought’

Anthropic’s AI model, Claude, was reportedly used by the US military in the barrage of strikes as the technology “shortens the kill chain” – meaning the process of target identification through to legal approval and strike launch.

“The advantage is in the speed of decision-making, the collapsing of planning from what might have taken days or weeks before to minutes or seconds,” said Leslie. “These systems produce a set of options for human decision makers but [they’ve] got a much narrower time band … to evaluate the recommendation.”

Very heavy strikes in Tehran. It would appear that the US/Israeli policy is to bomb the crap out of everything and hope that something happens.

Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been seen visiting the graves of the bombed schoolgirls.

Another vessel has reportedly been struck in the Strait of Hormus, North of Oman.

Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez says "NO TO WAR".
