Now, some say that God is not just going to plop a wife in your lap if you are a monk living in a cave and that you must "get out there," and "make an effort" to meet women. I disagree. With God all things are possible. God produces miracles everyday and you only need one. God's will is so powerful that you could be hiding in the woods in a log cabin where no one can find you and if God wanted you to have a wife he would simply send a lost hiker in the form of a beautiful woman knocking on your door asking you for help in finding the trail back to her car. No need to go anywhere, no need to do anything, no need to become anything except a servant of Christ.
Not only can God send a woman your way, if He wants to, but, Satan can and will do so in order to tempt men as well.
There was a certain monk, whose name I cannot remember, who made a pledge of chastity. He decided to live deep out in the forest in order to avoid temptation. He built a small cabin and lived a peaceful and holy life.
However, one night, a massive storm swept through the forest, and the monk heard a banging at his door. A woman, not too young or old, was lost in the woods in the inclement weather. Feeling pity and a sense of obligation, the monk let the woman inside to stay warm and dry off. Soon however, the woman started to flirt with the monk, and became sexually aggressive. The monk ended up fleeing his own cabin into the storm!
Deciding not to ever have to face such temptation again, the monk decided to find a small island out in the sea, and built a cabin and lived off fish. He again lived a peaceful and holy life for many years, but one night a massive storm came. A small ship crashed onto his island, and the only survivor was a young virgin maiden! He tended to her wounds but then she too became attracted to him and begin to tempt him.
He ended up building a boat and fleeing the island from the woman, and lived out the rest of his days on the top of a mountain.
I have had similar experiences where sexual temptation comes when you least expect it in ways that Satan will try and tempt you with. Some particularly uncouth married women come to mind.
Now, the point here is that if Satan can do these things, imagine how much more God can do for you?
