Decline of Functioning Society

I think this issue of shit Comedy is important to address. This dude is on point. Though at times gets a bit nihilistic, or Godless....
Anyone that's into comedy should watch though, my bro @Steady Hands

I think Canadians might just be the funniest people on the planet. They have a pretty good record.

I am just imagining things or have colognes and perfumes really degraded in quality the past 10 - 15 years?

Like even just 10 years ago you could easily buy a cologne or perfume with a smell that you could be talking to somebody and really notice it (in a good way). Now perfumes and colognes seem very weak and you practically have to be kissing somebody's neck to even smell the perfume. Also you used to be able to spray perfume or cologne and 3 or 4 hours later the scent would still be noticeable now it would be lucky to last an hour.

And even for many colognes and perfumes which sell for over $100 per bottle that is still the case.

Can anybody with more knowledge comment on what is happening here?

Also what is happening with German manufactured products?

They seem hit and miss these days.

Even just 20 years ago you could buy any German made product and automatically know it was good but that is no longer the case. My parents bought a Mercedez Benz (less than 5 years ago) which was second hand but in excellent condition with low mileage and it turned out to be a complete lemon.

Toyota > Any German car.

Cologne is meant to be for when someone is close to you, not to bathe in it and leave a trail of scent everywhere you go. I don't think the price correlates to its strength.

German cars went to massification route. From 1990 to 2025 they went from selling 500K to 2.5M cars yearly (BMW Mercedes). The growth was led by the lowering of quality standards and expansion into new markets. Since quality wasn´t the reason why people decided to buy german cars anymore. But for their logo.

Mercedes is backtracking it seems. BMW is still selling pieces of garbage. Even though Mini cars seem have some quality.

The globalization of western brands have been disastrous to western consumers. Not companies shareholders. I don´t see any advantage from 1990 to today in the increase in sales of western brands to non western countries.

If a parfum or cologne smells less than before is because they are selling the same package while the more costly ingredient is reduced. But parfums difference of smell might be done on purpose.

I only watched the first 10 minutes but it just seems like a hit piece on Joe Rogan. Nobody thinks that guy is the king of comedy. Not sure where he came up with that belief.

And why is the narrator so against stand-up comedy? There are some really talented stand-up comedians out there that are way funnier than Tom Green.

Mercedes is brutal. They don´t need western customers to sell. And Mercedes going abroad is giving away tech and know how. The west was fine before going global. There needs to be export controls. Not imports. West rare earth is it´s brains.

From Chat gpt:

  • In 2000, approximately 97.7% of Mercedes-Benz’s global sales were from the U.S. and Europe, with only 2.3% from the rest of the world.
  • In 2024, 55.1% of global sales came from the U.S. and Europe, while 44.9% came from the rest of the world, showing a significant shift towards emerging markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

📉 Comparison of Mercedes-Benz Sales in U.S. + Europe vs. Rest of the World:

200097.7%2.3%
202455.1%44.9%

Japanese cars are by far the best. After that Korean or American.

At least in the US, European cars are incredibly overrated. Unless you have the money to not care. Even then I'd still go with something else to avoid the headaches.

Mercedes until 2000 were the best cars ever made. They still are the most comfortable and luxury. But not reliable anymore. I will keep driving Mercedes. Until they bankrupt. Bmw has better feeling of driving.

Japanese cars took the lead also because of electronics. But its greed that ruins mercedes

It is becoming normal for Mercedes Benz cars to start breaking down after 5 years. A lot of Mercedes genuine parts are now manufactured in China. Every mechanic I have ever spoken to says that Toyotas the most reliable and durable cars hands down.

Back in the day it was a lot more common to walk past a beautiful woman on the street and be dazzled by her strong but sweet smelling perfume which added to the allure and mystique. That is now becoming a thing of the past as you basically have to be boyfriend and girlfriend etc to be able to smell each others perfume/cologne with how diluted they have become. The main ingredients are not expensive so I do not think its a cost saving measure. I think they figured if they dilute the strength people will spray on a lot more and thus consume a lot more perfume cologne every year thus increasing their sales.

Yeah it´s also due to their tax benefits. Leasing tax rebates end after 5 years. So companies which are probably the biggest buyers trade for new cars. It´s ridiculous the environmentalists with all their bullshit dont pay attention that tax incentives make companies change car every 5 years.

Some say its also related with the fact japanese cars use gasoline instead of diesel. But the main factor was greed.

I had a BMW 5 when it reached the 5th year needed a brand new engine. Sold that piece of crap. Drive an old Mercedes. I´m looking into the new toyota prius.

The best car ever made. Also nicknamed as "The tank."

I remember the previous body style Mercedes had a Diesel engine, that if maintained, could go 300,000+ miles. Early 1980's era. The rumor was the engine was the same design as a submarine engine and that is why it would last so long.

I’ve always regarded the W140 S-Class as the ultimate flagship of the Mercedes brand.

Newer BMWs are an abomination. Sad to see the decline. Their cars look like and weigh as much as a bloated whale. Ultimate Driving Machine my arse. I’d say Audis now make the most overall desirable German sedans. None of them are reliable, and I was once told by a factory mechanic that the newer cars were given parts only designed to last for the term of the warranty.

I’ve never owned a Japanese car but have a lot of appreciation for the various brands, some more than others. I seriously considered buying a Toyota as my latest vehicle but couldn’t come to terms with shelling out that much money on a used vehicle, but I do understand why people do given the proven reputation.

Edit: I will also say I drove a Hyundai a few years ago and was impressed. I recently drove a brand new Volvo and found it to be annoying and underwhelming.
