Weird Things You've Noticed Recently

They did not share your view on how one should approach fiction.
Again, my issue is not with fiction. Books are great, write whatever you want and the reader can simply put the book down if they are not happy with what is written. Furthermore, young children can find an "adult" themed book lying around unsupervised and they won't have the reading comprehension skills to understand nor to be negatively affected by the adult themes of sexuality in the copy of 50 Shades Of Gray their irresponsible mother left on the kitchen counter. TV and films are an entirely different animal and are often used as powerful psychological weapons to indocternate an audience with anti-Christian propaganda. Books versus TV/films/video games is comparing apples to oranges.

You have the right to create what you want. But you don't have the right to broadcast your over-sexualized violent filth for all the world to see. It falls under the same logic of how it is illegal to run around naked in public or yell "fire!" in a crowded building when there is no fire. Sure, broadcasting R-rated content is legal, but that doesn't make it right. And the only reason you can "legally" broadcast this filth everywhere is because it is jewish produced content and through JQ subversive techniques of lawfare (((they))) have written the laws (which also can give bad goys 5 years in prison and a 200K fine for "pirating" said filth... enforced by none other than the deep state FBI).

Oh wait... I just realized your CiK username is that of a jew produced Hollwood movie! 😂 Nevermind. NOW I see what's going on.

Hollywood has been a disgusting cesspool from its inception. Even way back with Shirley Temple. Which is inevitable considering its origins in theater. It’s clear why early Church canons forbid Christians from working as actors. To me, there is no redeeming value in fictional movies or shows, no benefit that outweighs the issues.
Also not true. Hollywood was founded by Christians. Some of the earliest directors and producers were Christians. Ever heard of Cecille B. Demille?

The fact is there is not one industry you could point out that isn't rife with human sin and corruption. The retreatist/pietistic mindset that you and Purple have fallen for is why the Church is no longer at the forefront of the culture. It's also simply not Biblical. I dont want to see either of you at the Passion of the Christ sequel.

Books are great, write whatever you want and the reader can simply put the book down if they are not happy with what is written.
Books have done more harm than any film has. Ever heard of the Quran, the Communist Manifesto, the Origin of the Species, etc? The visual image of a film is powerful but the words of a book are far more powerful. Should we burn all books?

Was Mel Gibson wrong to broadcast the violent, R-rated Passion of the Christ? I think we would agree that film has done a lot of good for people.

It’s clear why early Church canons forbid Christians from working as actors. To me, there is no redeeming value in fictional movies or shows, no benefit that outweighs the issues. I don’t care if it’s a “good” movie, either the director or screenwriter(s) is a nutjob. It’s like trying to enjoy a milkshake with a turd fleck in it.

My opinion is that the governing body of a nation has an obligation to restrict/ban obscene and degenerate media. We live in a world with instant access via devices, no more need to visit a seedy place in an alley way. The argument of “well you’re just weak if you end up affected and freedom is more important”, then why do we have restrictions on drugs, gambling, tobacco, alcohol, high interest pay day loans, etc.? Just cut the middle man out and sell KrackRox at 7/11, and if you get addicted, well too bad, guess you should’ve been stronger. Any nation that has a safe, clean country has heavy restrictions on these things and media. Maybe you can get away with having more “intellectual/artistic freedom” when you’re not under rule by (((them))). It’s not like in 2025 we’re making accurate historical re-enactments of Spartan battles, it’s ever increasing levels of shock value and content inspired by soulless, Godless, lost creators. Even in the 1950s, you have people like Marilyn Monroe, and the culture was still coasting off the more conservative previous generations. Personally, I have a deeper issue with Western culture and how it was tainted by the Enlightenment period, but I digress.

No, I don’t think horror movies should be allowed to be screened publicly, the fact that there’s even a market for this kind of demonic, sick stuff is already appalling. I remember reading somewhere, maybe it was a pro-life book by Abby Johnson, but basically they talked about how they purposely use movies to put out propaganda about abortion or gay stuff, because it’s visual and appeals to emotions. Like oh a story about a young up and coming girl, she gets raped by someone close to her and the only way to get her life back is to abort her baby, cue music and emotional scenes. Bohemian Rhapsody. The holocaust movies….Or the total slop that was the movie Juno. And look how that actress ended up…so many examples.

It does affect families. You go out in public, to a skate rink or other event and you get to hear Top 40s about sex, getting drunk, being depressed and lost. Movies in general have audio that is very in your face and stimulating, sexualization in appearance and speech is totally normal (even kids movies have references), the ever so common theme of siding with the villain, etc. Typical soy dad and know-it-all mom/kids. (((They))) wouldn’t pump billions of dollars into media if it was good for the goyim. Kind of like how porn is free.

The UK show Skins was popular when I was in high school, like what a steaming heap of trash that was. Again, what value is there?

Here is just one, small snippet of the endless dysfunction:

For context, we have not had cable or streaming subscriptions in about 8 years now, I haven’t sat through a movie or tv show in about the same length of time, except if it was playing in the background at someone’s house or in public. It’s actually jarring to see commercials. Our kids have pretty much 0 screen time, with exception made for nonfiction things like cooking shows, diesel engine repair, Patristic Nectar Kids (a priest talking about the gospel reading for that Sunday), or How It’s Made clips. The more media someone watches, the harder it is to pray and have a spiritual life, and if you’ve consumed a lot of this from childhood, it’s quite difficult to rework that. I strongly encourage other parents to cut the screens out, it’s catching on as more people realize the harm that it does to kids. Don’t get me started on Disney garbage. Kids need their creativity encouraged, not their imagination.

We know a couple who let their 2 kids watch horror movies from like 3 years old, they are honestly reallly messed up from it. Chucky, IT, that kind of stuff. It’s very sad and appalling. Speaking of IT, oh ya that was written by the demented Stephen King, and if you don’t know, the book IT has a child sex scene that only a disgusting pervert would dream up. Why are these films tolerated again? To be brutally honest, I have never met a well-adjusted person who was a horror movie fan, it’s like the mental equivalent of a bull nose ring/blue hair/chest tattooes, and actually the same people typically enjoy both. The same goes for men and anime. I’m not sure what Japanese cartoons do to the male psyche, but it’s not good. I could not imagine the father of my children being an anime enthusiast.

The Bible is different, how things are presented and the language used is different. There is at least sympathy given for several instances, like the murder of the Innocents by King Herod. It’s like comparing dispatching your own livestock or hunting to someone torturing animals for fun.
This type of back and forth conversation is priceless. It’s what makes CIK so great.

I agree with both points. One one hand 98% of media, video games, and internet "content" is absolute degenerate garbage and the world would be a better place without it (and it never should've been made in the first place) but on the other hand I'm really tired of the "false ignorance" displayed by modern parents where they are shocked, shocked, that after plunking an ipad/iphone in their kid's hands from the day they were born that their kid has actually been watching gay tranny porn for the last five years.

I agree with this as well. My only stake in this is that the pietistic love to bind men's consciences where the Scripture does not, but cautions men to use discernment. This false-piety produces in people a paranoid, anxious, and scrupulous spirit. It also gives people a false sense of what true piety is.

The stronger brother should not cause the weaker brother to stumble, and the weaker brother should not bind the conscience of the stronger brother.

Hollywood was founded by Christians.
This is very misleading. Some Christians were no doubt involved but it is the jews who really took the ball and ran with it. MGM studios and the like, and mixed in were some "Christians" but they behaved like jews ("Money, money, money!"). Again, I would refer you to the book: An Empire Of Their Own: How The JEWS Invented Hollywood.

The visual image of a film is powerful but the words of a book are far more powerful.
This is just categorically false. Not everyone can read, and even fewer people have high levels of reading comprehension, but any old shitty crackhead parent can plop their 5 year old in front of the TV while The Exorcist is playing and potentially scar the child for life (depending on the child's individual genetics, emotional sensitivity, etc.).

Was Mel Gibson wrong to broadcast the violent, R-rated Passion of the Christ?
Who knows? Ostensibly no, but then again it is irrelevant because it is "out there" and it is a great film. Look, I worked in Hollywood. I love GOOD movies and it is one of my dreams and life goals to make one. However, I think we're conflating several things here. There is an ethical scope to all of this, and the majority of media produced is jewish globohomo garbage bordering on pornography and gore and has had a negative impact on society. It should not be legal to produce and distribute this disturbing filth that has zero intrinsic artistic value in the same way that it should be illegal to make and distribute pornography. You do believe in enforcing social mores and values and the rule of law don't you? Again, there is a direct correlation between a rise in faggotry in movies and real life. You can continue to deny this fact, but it is true nonetheless.

There have been anecdotal "facts" stated here about the power and negative impact visual and auditory media can have on child development. Yet you continue to ignore these facts:
We know a couple who let their 2 kids watch horror movies from like 3 years old, they are honestly reallly messed up from it. Chucky, IT, that kind of stuff. It’s very sad and appalling.
I could add many more stories like this as I have worked in a professional setting with hundreds of young children and their families.

We are talking about soft science here and we can debate in circles all day long because hard science facts are difficult to come by, so I will just leave it at this... I studied the origins of Sesame Street and it had many corrupt intentions built into the foundation, one of which was to drill the logo of Ford so deep into the minds of 5 year olds (Sesame Street's target audience) in an attempt to influence their car buying behavior when they turn 16... "This episode of Sesame Street brought to you by Ford." Brainwashing at it's finest.

... on the other hand I'm really tired of the "false ignorance" displayed by modern parents where they are shocked, shocked, that after plunking an ipad/iphone in their kid's hands from the day they were born that their kid has actually been watching gay tranny porn for the last five years.
This is what you see as a social worker. When you have personally seen children who are victims of bad parenting you will stop blaming the children by accepting the fact that children who have horrible, no good, rotten parents are not at fault. A good society should protect young children from horribly abusive parents (which are more common than you think). The only way to do this is to prevent these abusive (and/or negligent) parents from having access to media that can harm children. One way to do this is to ban the production of indecent, ammoral, anti-Christian filth in the same way that we should ban pornography and prostitution. Or at the very least, you should have to jump through hoops by having to go to a physical location to buy "banned" media products. Similar to how here in North Carolina we can only buy alcohol at government sanctioned and controlled "ABC" stores. We already have an R and X rating system in place (and for good reason), it just doesn't go far enough in protecting innocent children from their low IQ, derelict parents.

Its not misleading at all. The statement I was replying to was misleading. Both the town and the industry were founded by Christians. I agree that the Jews ran with it, and I think you're recommending a good book, but people shouldn't lose sight of the fact that the town was founded by Christians.

It isn't false. I know that iconographic rhetoric says otherwise, but your world is shaped by the word more than the image. It doesn't matter if someone can't read. The words that have been produced in books are far more powerful and pervasive than the visual images in Hollywood films. Any of the books I've mentioned, Quran, Darwin, Marx, have done more harm than all the films in Hollywood put together.

However, I think we're conflating several things here. This is really the crux of the issue right here. I don't disagree that artists should take responsibility in what they create. I don't disagree that most of what they make is junk. I also didn't deny the correlation, but correlation is not the same thing as causation. The point is that you can enforce the law all you want, but unless people have a love for God in the Gospel, they will continue to flout the Law.

“Junk” is not nearly a strong enough word.

I'm not sure where you made the leap that I was blaming kids when I alluded that it's the parents giving them these unbridled devices... If you meant the meme I posted earlier, that is basically saying step away from social media and it doesn't affect you anymore.

Also, I disagree with this statement because the issue is much more complex than just banning content:
The only way to do this is to prevent these abusive (and/or negligent) parents from having access to media that can harm children.
The kind of kids you're talking about (I assume) have very real life situations happening where social media and other "questionable" internet usage pales in comparison to their real life experiences.

Btw, if you really are involved in social work then I have to give you a big "thank you" for what you do to help kids or whoever your clients are. It is a hard, underpaid, and thankless job. Some of my closest friends at church are teachers and social workers and they have some of the most horrific and sad stories about their students.

If those Christian friends are able to maintain a healthy buffer zone around their souls, against their Woke colleagues and relentless pozz that gets shoved their way after it's gestation period in academia, and still manage to do their jobs sensibly and morally, then they deserve all the praise. Just sitting through a meeting listening to those institutionalalized lunatics waffle on in wokespeak was enough to drive me up the wall.
