Video Games and Gaming Technology (In A Positive Light)

Replaying LA Noire. The story is so engrossing that I've never just drove around in the open world. I'm about halfway through the story and while I am thoroughly enjoying it, I'm also looking forward to finishing it and driving around this beautiful and apparently extremely accurate rendering of post WW2 Los Angeles. I'm aware there isn't much at all to do as an "open-world" game, maybe just a few petty crimes to stop and collectibles to gather, but for the first time I'm interested in really checking out the city. I'm thinking there is a whole lot I've never seen before, despite having played it several times, especially because virtually every time I get around, I ask my partner to drive and the game jumps forward.
For story and style alone, LA Noire is one of Rock Star's best and most unique gaming experiences. Maybe I'll find even a bit more to enjoy.

What online co-op games would you gentlemen recommend to play through with friends who live far away? The only games I own right now that fit the bill are Minecraft, Terraria, Deep Rock Galactic and Team Fortress 2. The rest of my library is single-player. I'd like to have more options. I would appreciate any recommendations.

I used to play Jackbox, but it was with a pirated copy and a while ago I decided not to pirate games anymore.

Depends how large your play group is.

For 5 players we've enjoyed: Tabletop Simulator (especially Catan, One Night Ultimate Werewolf, Dungeons & Dragons, Uno, Risk), Among Us, Crab Game

For 3 players: Tabletop Simulator (especially Munchkin, Magic the Gathering), Destiny 2, Chained Together, Worms Armageddon, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Borderlands 2, For The King, Outriders, Human Fall Flat, PlateUp, Lethal Company, Wildermyth, V Rising, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Void Crew, Gang Beasts

For 2 players: Magic the Gathering Arena, It Takes Two, Divinity Original Sin 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Across the Obelisk, Inkbound, Wizard of Legend

For all the above: Civilization 6, PlanetSide 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, 7 Days to Die, Grand Theft Auto, Overwatch, Satisfactory, New World, Crusader Kings 3, Valheim, Streets of Rogue, Stellaris, Marvel Rivals, League of Legends, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, BattleBit Remastered, The Escapists 2

Some overlap in the categories but generally they play best with those group sizes.

Beat South Park: The Stick of Truth recently. Hilarious and wild story, they didn't pull their punches when converting their humour to a videogame and I like that similarly to Clair 33 it's turn-based but there are real-time inputs that are needed to be most effective in combat. 8/10 since the story was funny and didn't drag on, and the combat was serviceable.

In Hades I'm up to the 3rd boss now, fantastic action roguelite. 9/10 thanks to it's tight combat, great art direction and voice acting. Loses a point because I think Wizard of Legend showed having more abilities simultaneously is funner for combos, plus an equivalent to robes and relics would have been nice.

Also started playing Noita but I'm getting curbstomped at the moment, I need to add some more mods that others recommend to ease the difficulty. Really intrigued by it's unique wandcrafting system, pixel-level simulated physics and apparently endless depth to the world.

For anyone who hasn't played Oblivion before I'd recommend trying it now that a remaster has come out - some of the best questing in all games in there, especially the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild questlines.

The only thing about going into Oblivion remastered is that they haven't fixed the level scaling bs with enemies. Couldn't find a mod that fixed that as of now so I'll wait. But yeah some of the quests have writing better than most movies.
