Video Games and Gaming Technology (In A Positive Light)

The Witcher 4 released a reveal trailer last night at "The Game Awards"

I'm not playing it and I hope you kids don't either.... Not just because of uglified girl boss Ciri, but because of all the woke nonsense CDPR has been caught up in as of late. I think if it was done organically a Ciri Witcher game could have been worth while, but nothing about this is organic. I am adamant about not spending my money on DEI and Woke products, especially games. I want these modern gaming publishers and studios to burn to the ground so that something better can come and take their place.

From all the insider rumours it's likely going to have woke stuff but Phantom Liberty was released recently and it had none of that. From how much I enjoyed CP2077 and Witcher 3 I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt until there's gameplay actually released but I know I'm likely being too optimistic.

In other news regarding the Game Awards I'm glad to see woke stuff failed - no awards for Veilguard or Outlaws, and non-woke games like Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth Wukong and Helldivers 2 did great. Will Western studios utterly flopping compared to Asian ones change anything? I think it'll take more than this but it's a good sign of things to come.

In terms of 2025 games I'm looking forward to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Civilization VII, Elden Ring: Nightreign, Crimson Desert, Solasta 2, Slay the Spire 2, Split Fiction, Mafia: The Old Country and Monster Hunter Wilds. GTA 6, Avowed and Assassin's Creed Shadow will likely be woke and Witcher 4 is several years out. Borderlands 4 looks alright as well, and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 if it ever releases.

Played God of War (2018) recently - fantastic game, loved the story arc of the boy and his father, incredible visuals and top-tier action combat. I've heard the sequel has some woke stuff in it but I'm still looking forward to playing it for the combat and visuals, will likely focus on the Valhalla roguelike mode if the woke story stuff gets too much.

The executive producer of The Witcher 4 has just told IGN that the game is being made for a wider audience. By that, he means the elusive 'Modern Audience'. It is going to be all-inclusive, non-offensive DEI slop. Maybe not as awful as other recent AAA titles, but still bad.

CDPR has completely trashed Witcher lore to make Ciri into a witcher. The guy hired to butcher the lore is an ex-games journalist who hates gamers, Cian Maher.

The Witcher 4 game director, Sebastian Kalemba, has admitted that Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the Witcher novels, was not consulted on making Ciri into a Witcher.

It is now also confirmed that sexism will be a topic in the Witcher 4.

My sisters and I annually have a Mario kart 64 war every Christmas when the day winds down, we've become so good at the game it's silly....controllers are annually angrily thrown every year. Well this year I got them a bit of a gift, I found a guy who created a hack where you can play GP mode in more than just two players, normally we just alternated playing each other until someone can't "sweep" anymore.....yes we've become so good that winning isn't enough we have to embarrass each other. So I bought a cartridge where you can upload a rom and I'm going to figure out how to get it on there.....might get a little wild this year haha.

With Mario Kart, I think Nintendo perfected the formula of a game which functions as a party experience everyone can have fun with, yet also has a huge skill ceiling and a surprising amount of depth.

I used to play MK8 somewhat competitively and as such, I feel a bit sheepish about playing with friends and family, but actual world-record level Japanese players are insane.

i can’t help but be fascinated by communities which revolve around mastering a video game. The time investment and mastery over something so incredibly pointless is both weird and compelling

I've seen some of those they are pretty cool but not going to lie when they show these guys reactions losing their minds hyperventilating when they break a video game record it's really cringey and makes me feel like a fellow loser just for watching it haha.

So we know about all those glitches, we call that playing "garbage kart" and it's a set family rule that they're not allowed. My little sister purposely stays in the last places until the very end catches a good item and then tries to pass us and knock us into the back, she's actually pretty successful with it. We argue a lot if that still constitutes as "garbage kart" and has led to many a thrown controller....again we're so good it's not so much about winning anymore it's more about embarrassing the other person...it's fun!
