United Healthcare CEO Assassinated

A lot of people forget that the US was founded on violence. We would not be a country without it. I'm not going to say this Thompson guy deserved to die, but sometimes people are left with no other options. And I certainly don't feel sorry for him.

Americans are really proud of the Revolution, as we should be. But what do they think was happening during those times. A lot of the Founding Fathers were causing violence for similar reasons...

The evil elites get away with this stuff because our society doesn't do anything about it.

I completely agree with you. In contrast, back then there was more social cohesion and trust. More importantly there wasn’t a massive surveillance state with the alphabet agencies collecting metadata and infiltrating patriotic, religious, or nationalistic groups. That’s another big middle finger this guy is giving to the system. Even with cameras everywhere, he hasn’t been caught. Humans will always adapt.

What is your solution then?
I don't accept the premise that murdering Brian Thompson constitutes a solution to the problems you listed.

In my current mixed state of education and ignorance on the discussion over the murder, people have expressed outrage over Thompson's introduction of artificial intelligence in determining whether to accept or deny claims. Most immediately, this means only that his company would need fewer people operating in this process. It doesn't mean that claims got denied at a greater rate. Even if they did, it could mean that the AI just did a better job of weeding out fraudulent claims.

As you acknowledge, the problems you mention have stood for far longer than recent developments in technology or Thompson's tenure as CEO of UHC. Could you walk me through the logic of how this murder would advance a solution to these problems?

I have seen this floating around a lot. I just inherited a new vehicle. I could use it, my current vehicle is 16 years old and starting to fall apart. Unfortunately, I will likely have to sell the new vehicle, and eat the loss of the value of it, just due to the cost of insurance.

Until we get serious about the harm of legal immigration, and the team GOP wants to increase it, we can't fix any of this. This country will fall apart soon due to legal immigration that Trump and the GOP are pushing. We can't afford to import 80 IQ people and pay them money just to survive and commit crimes and clog up the roads and medical systems.

A friend of mine has an older brother who makes well into the 7 figures and lives on the coast. She is stuck taking care of their aging father, three kids, and is a single mom. She is a sweetheart, she is divorced because her ex was in the special forces and went crazy after the Iraq war.

He has done almost nothing to help her. He came back around Thanksgiving and was blown away at how little she had. The vehicle she was driving was a 20 year old SUV with serious issues that she barely kept together. It was the first time he actually saw what an average person goes through. She makes about $150k a year, in the Midwest, which is great money, but with three kids and no other spouse, it is just enough to get by.

He was so guilt ridden he bought her a $50,000 SUV. He finally did the right thing.

You are correct, these 7 figure income people are low life scum who care nothing about good Christians and work hard to destroy Christian families and Christianity itself. It took years and years for this low life to finally realize his younger sister was drowning and taking care of dad while he lived in luxury.
Wow $150k and she is still struggling to make ends meet? I live in the Midwest as a single guy and make less than that, but Iife is pretty good here. I guess having children really is that expensive nowadays, especially seeing as she would have to pay for child care as a single mom and maybe hire someone for her dad too. I was hoping to get married and spare my wife the burden of working so she can homeschool the kids. This makes me want to work harder to earn a lot more money.

I want to think the best of these rich people making seven figures, but it's hard to imagine them making that much while the poor are dying of fentanyl on the streets. Many normal people like us could give more too. But I'm scared to do so without a safety net as anyone could fall into this situation. In my line of work especially, at any moment we could get laid off and then have nothing coming in, no health insurance either. Must be nice to be a CEO with few dozen million in the bank to cushion you while your customers are dying.

Whether it is AI or human decisions, UHC has denied a lot of claims that were valid according to their written guidelines. They purposely denied valid claims, then left it to the patients and doctors to grind through their appeals process to honor valid claims that should never have been denied.

This was done intentionally by management acting in bad faith, and the CEO certainly knew about it. Murder is illegal and wrong, but their malfeasance was more than sufficient to cause people to take up arms and attack them.

I expect to see more of this, and not just in the healthcare field.

Just wait until the full truth about the COVAIDS scam and jabs comes out.

To give you an idea, my full time job benefits are not very good. But they are not terrible. I think they cover about 50% of our healthcare. I am not certain. I refuse to go to doctors, so I have never used our insurance.

For a single guy like me, I pay about $50 a month for health insurance.

If I had kids, it is $1,400 a month, which is more than my mortgage.

Kids are extremely expensive. Really, in this day and age, if you have children you are either very well off or just don't fully understand the implications of the rough life ahead for them. Obviously those in the ghetto with sub-90 IQ's don't care. For those of you who want a good future for your kids and you are not wealthy, I would look to get out of the USA. That is my plan, but reality is, I don't want to leave behind my aging mother.

150k a year in the Midwest and broke?

I know single moms with multiple kids who make far less than that and do just fine. Your "friend" either has a drug problem, gambling problem or is an idiot.

I would tell you to give her some advice and she should be being paid for home health care by insurance if she is really taking care of her aging father but I'm pretty sure this is another one of your fairy tale life stories.

The guy who works 7 days a week and arrogantly claims to be the most successful person on this forum has to sell a car because he can't afford the insurance?

You need to stop, you make things up just for reactions. Can't even keep track of your own fairy tales anymore.

None of this explains how the murder will advance a solution to any of the problems.

I see a lot of ire at medical insurance companies and none at the government that drives up medical costs by pouring money into the industry with one hand and tightly regulates medicine and insurance with the other.

Now that this issue has returned, I recall saying in 2020, when I expected Trump to get reelected, that he would sign single payer medicine to law in his second term. At this point the state may well have rotted the medical industry to the point that single payer would amount to an overall improvement for most people.

Yes, 150k, with three kids, in the Midwest goes fast. They are in college, they need cars, they do work themselves, health insurance, etc. Is she out on the street begging for money? Of course not. Is she driving a 20-year-old car and deciding between foundation work on the house or tree work, and which ever gets put off, how long can she put it off? Yes. Well, now thanks to her brother she has a nice car.

I can afford it, but it is a waste of money with it better spent on investments, some of which have 8.5% interest rates.

This capitalist system is crashing down, you better get prepared.

Moving those goalposts I see......sorry it doesn't add up at all, your story is fake you only threw it out there for reactions unless your friend is a crackhead with a gambling problem. I live in the midwest, you want me to break down the cost of living worst case scenario for this woman and tell you how fake it is? Either she's a crackhead idiot or you made up the story, which one do you want to go with?

Spare me the buzzwords, I hate insurance companies I'm dealing with one myself on a huge claim and they can all burn in hell for what they're trying to do to me and my partners.

But about your stories, unless you have 10 accidents and 3 dui's on your record you're again just making things up for reactions. Selling the new car that's your choice due to either frugality or greed it's not because you can't afford it like you framed it for the reaction, either that or all your other stories about yourself were lies too. I know what I pay for insurance on a new luxury SUV, a classic truck and an exotic here in the midwest, the self proclaimed "most successful person" on this forum shouldn't be selling a car and having to drive a 16 year old falling apart car because he can't pay the insurance and trying to act like it's an example of someone struggling to get reactions out of it.

For myself, my wife, and my son our annual expenses are around $36k/year. We don't have any debt, rent/mortgage payments, car payments, student loan payments, etc.. Each of those things easily can chip away at a $150k salary. Income tax (plus FICA) on $150k is also around $30k/year.

So many variables it's ridiculous but it doesn't matter the story is fake, nobody making 150k a year in the midwest is struggling to own a reliable car unless they have a gambling or drug problem, especially with kids old enough to take care of themselves and contribute. Having to be smart with money because you have bills is a far cry from owning a car that is barely drivable because you can't afford anything else.

I live in a part of the country that's way more expensive than the Midwest. Don't want to get too specific about my salary but it's quite a bit above average yet quite a bit less than 150k. I have several kids (again, don't want to be specific but above average) and my wife is a stay at home mom. We aren't wealthy by American standards but we're very comfortable. One reliable, practical Japanese car, a house that's big enough if a little cramped, and we can even afford to have hobbies and eat out once in a while.

Which is to say that yes, the idea that someone can't get by on 150k in the Midwest is ridiculous. On par with working 7 days a week for decades without a break and still not being able to afford to start a family. If either of those apply to you, that's on you, not America.

I can down vote you as well. If you want to call me a liar, that is fine, I don't care. But reality is still coming, whether you want to call me a liar or not, and this capitalist system of fiat currency is collapsing. And yes, my car insurance, which is bundled with my house, tripled due to inheriting a new vehicle. It was a nice reminder of why I never go to a doctor, I don't even want to think of what a nightmare that might become.
