The Venezuela Thread

Operation Southern Spear has been announced by the US Ministry of War. Not ruling out that this nomer is a below the belt dig at narcodictator Maduro who last month showed up wearing indigenous feather headwear and holding a spear as he blamed 'el gringo' (aka the White man) for the total shithole state Venezuela has become. The only thing that was missing was a little bone through his nose. Either way pressure is rising and US miltary assets are still assembling in the region.

From what I understand, yes. His country is being run into the ground by the USA embargo.
I understand that Venezuela has been run into the ground since the early days of Hugo Chavez, when they decided to defer maintenance on the oil equipment, and spent all the oil money on free giveaways.

Obviously if you have the worlds largest oil reserves, the smart thing to do is run the oil companies as a world class enterprise, then invest in economic development so the whole country prospers. Instead Venezuela has bled the oil industry dry to create a giant dysfunctional welfare class.

This isn't the fault of the US.

I honestly don’t know. After October 7, I question anything our state department or media says about an “enemy”. This all could be true. I just know we have much worse drug cartels that are just across the border and since they are closely associated with Israel, they can get away with killing Americans all they esnt.

Maduro, a bit like Saddam Hussein did, offered Venezuela's oil and resources to US corporations in exchange for normalization and lifting of the embargo. Biden and Trump refused, they want regime change.

I know that happened recently, and I suspect there were many reasons why that wasn't a viable solution at this time.

However, the Venezuelan government started choosing to run down their oil industry in favor of social spending decades ago. Now their oil industry is a wreck and the people live in squalor while sitting on top of the world's largest oil reserves. It could have been so different.

Hugo Chavez was one of the original woke socialist populist rulers.

If one acts like a coward they will go down as such, like they said: if must choose between war and shame, choose war, or will get war and shame both. Something Putin had understood well. Should be a lesson to Lukashenko.
There can be no "normalization" when colonization, full subjugation and installing puppet government with some typical Israel-linked agenda is the goal.
US sanctions/embargo is what had destroyed Venezuela's economy and nothing else.

Venezuela is one of the most socially conservative countries in the western hemisphere. Gay marriage is banned, abortion highly restricted and they also have strong anti-usury laws, which I believe are pretty unique. Chavez was a devout Catholic.

"Venezuela has specific legislation to combat usury, which is primarily addressed in its competition and economic control laws, particularly the Procompetencia Act and related measures aimed at regulating prices and preventing speculation.

Key Laws and Provisions

  • Procompetencia Act and Competition Legislation: The current or proposed competition laws in Venezuela include provisions that criminalize usury. The Competition Bill, as discussed in past reports, includes specific criminal sanctions for those who commit usury, punishable by one to five years imprisonment."

We are slowly approaching the "take a dump, or get off the pot" moment, as there's not enough infrastructure in the area to sustain such a force for a prolonged period of time.
The moment of truth may happen next week, when cartel de los soles (allegedly headed by Maduro himself) will be officially designated a foreign terrorist organization.

According to the Venezuelan side they are fighting US imperialism, and the current situation is the result of past British territorial theft.

Which sums up the entire thread.
Venezuela got economic problems because of US sanctions and nothing else, continued British imperialism wrapped as a new fresh burrito. British+Israely imperialism to be more precise. US is an extension of British empire and given who had financed British wars it's been British-Israely for hundreds of years.

Some of the economic problems of Venezuela undoubtedly lie with Chavez-Maduro socialism, but I would say more of it is due to decades of hard US embargo.

Maduro was ready to cooperate with the US, much like Saddam Hussein was in Iraq before the US invasion. In the weeks preceding that when it became pretty clear that the US was set to invade Iraq, Saddam offered to buy one million GM cars and trucks, and to give US firms exclusivity on Iraqi oil production, to no avail, the neocons wanted his head on a platter and his country destroyed.

I see a lot of similarities here with the situation in Venezuela today, substitute "WMD" and "terrorism" for drugs and narcos and the parallels are there between Iraq in 2001 and Venezuela today, it is a pure imperialism play. Anyone who buys the Los Soles cartel story and Maduro as a narco jefe is just as foolish a those who bought into the Iraqi WMD tall tales.
