The Venezuela Thread

As a Artilleryman and someone with some experience in the space .... This made me chuckle quite a bit.

Not only were Russian AD systems proven useless yet again, so were Chinese radar systems. Venezuela had in recent years acquired 9 JY-27 anti stealth radar systems. These Chinese made and Venezuelan operated (?) systems didn't manage to pick up a single damn aircraft in the 3 hour long raid.

What we don't know is what was and wasn't manned and turned on... That's be the first thing I'm wondering about this report ....

When I was in Libya post Gaddafi, there were tons of Russian SAMs and Syria had even more. Yet there wasn't any significant casualties by attacking forces (save 1 Israeli jet if I recall)

The S300s manned and operational are a significant threat but I suspect these were not really staffed by their "best and brightest" much like the M777a2s we gave the Ukrainians or the M1 Abrams we gave the Iraqis.

Russian/Chinese technology and logistics failed when it actually had to be applied to the real world instead of just being used as propaganda.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you.

Jorge Rodriguez, brother of Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, has announced plans for 8 big reforms. It's already being dubbed as Venezuelan Perestroika.

From Telegram. If this doesn't lead to a coup one should never take any bloviating Latino or communist serious again. These people have been railing against gringo imperialism for 30 years and are now falling in line without as much as a peep and zero US boots on the ground. Viceroy Donald Trump is literally demoting Venezuela to the status of colony/ resources-for-loot and imposing laws and direction. The average Venezuelan + many of the elite hardliners must be seething at this humiliation.

1. A Popular Penal Code that groups the protections and guarantees established by the Constitution;
2. A new Economic and Productive Trade Code
3. A Code of Direct Democracy and Strengthening of Popular Power
4. A new Civil Code
5. An Ecological Environmental Code
6. A Code of Integral Protection of Vulnerable People
7. A new Electoral Code that groups the electoral laws
8. ?

Agree. I've seen one video of an alleged manpad rocket launch and a helo dropping flares/chaff. This tracks with the only one damaged and a few guys receiving enemy marksmanship awards. The main sam's & radars were either not turned on or were just sitting there with crews enjoying the holidays...
The Russians & Chinese obviously weren't manning their tech in Venezuela, just like how the US sells equipment, trains the local mil and then watches from a safe distance.

Like Choppa has said repeatedly for years now, China doesn't have any combat experience for decades. It's one thing to do it on paper, it's another thing to it for real.

Another thing to consider is how much effort are you going to put into something in your backyard vs your foe's backyard? Why would Russia put a lot of resources into helping Venezuela when they have their own problems right on their doorstep and are making huge inroads in Africa? The juice just isn't worth the squeeze...

Proven? Do you have proof that they were even activated?
The CIA spent months bribing the right people so the US could fly in without a shot being fired. There was literally nothing, not even smallarms fire on the videos as the helicopters went over the city and then hovered over buildings. It was totally obvious that there had been a standdown ordered from a high level and that air defense was not even trying. Only the Cuban security guards made a stand.
Maduro was sold out by traitors and handed over.

Yeah I tend to think there was a bit of this...capture of the second in command types.

However I would say it is more likely that these radar systems were not manned appropriately due to incompetence than pure "stand down". Depending on the system, but many times you want to limit the radar signature to protest these from counter radar strikes.

With out being there and knowing what was really going on we are left with assumptions and guesses and ultimately the News Narrative of the US force via our undisputed superpower (media propaganda) is what will be remembered. That said, it is a really bad look for China and Russia on their tech and capabilities. Hypersonic missiles and drones are great.... But if you can't keep your shores safe after being blockaded then it's a bit of a moot point.

I can say we would have and to have had a high degree of confidence or safety and likely made many missle strikes to take out the Radar and C2 nodes which could present any threat to our assets.
