The Off-Topic and Random Thoughts Thread(Anything Goes!)

Unless she died the day before a holiday weekend, for a manager to not hear from a direct report employee for 4 business days…that Bill Lumberger middle manager should be fired IMO. There is a Wells Fargo building similar to the one in AZ where this woman died near my house and most everyone there is still working remote or hybrid since the pandemic started in 2020. These Wells Fargo regional offices are huge facilities and probably only 10% utilized these days. That’s a whole other discussion (commercial office space no longer required).

Same in my area.

this can be a good thing, if everything probably is fake then people might stop caring about it

For all I know, this is an AI generated guy using LLM text and AI voice to convince me the internet is fake. But for every downside of this technology there will be an upside. For example, girls no longer being able to prostitute themselves on OnlyFans because they'll be pushed out by better looking AI. Well, okay, mostly downsides, like using AI to show fake footage of us fighting against Eurasia, or AI footage of white people being violent and racist, or AI footage of priests sexually abusing children.

I've mentioned this on the forum in the past, that men in the West have lost our social spaces. At least the Muslims and the Asians still have their "men's only" clubs, spaces, cafes, etc. Upper crusty society used to have such men's only social or country clubs, where men would hang out, play cards, read the paper, drink tea, and so on. Golf clubs and the super rich still have elements of these things, but what's left for the everyday man? Almost nothing. Strip clubs and bars? Fugettaboutit. Even pro sportsball locker rooms have now been invaded by women reporters. I think this is why some men get duped into joining masonic lodges: because it (at least was) men's only, but I think that's changed. Think of Fred Flintstone heading off to his Water Buffalo lodge meetings. One could argue that church is a meet-up place for men, but really...? Most western churches are totally feminised and you can't exactly engage in "locker room" chat at church. I think this is another reason why men gravitate to Islam: for the "brotherhood" factor, which Christianity in the West has lost, and there are no clear "brotherhood establishments" left for us.

I'm curious how much pornography has had an influence on this. Men seem to want to hang out with women, or be with one woman, over being with male friends. I saw it all the time in university, where anytime a guy got a girlfriend, we would never be able to hang out with him again until they broke up. We were all hooked on pornography, and I think the way it increases your lust affects the type of situations you want to be in, reducing desire for neutral situations where there is no possibility of sexual encounter.

I used to attend a G.K. Chesterton Society meeting that took place once a month. It was a lot of fun, almost all men talking about Chesterton and his books. I moved away, was gone for years, went back, then reattended a meeting and it was so much less fun because it was over half women. The men were definitely not as comfortable talking about things the way they used to and the group had grown too large. I stopped going and didn't miss it. I think men vote with their feet in such situations. Perhaps the only real way to maintain a gathering of men is to join something like Civil War reenactors, or make clubs around things women don't enjoy. I guess male spaces have moved online, like when a bunch of men follow a pro gamer on Twitch, or they get their male socialization by watching men podcast on Youtube, like Cinemassacre, or Ryan Long, or this forum and ones like it.

My culture still has these spaces, there are multiple "clubs" in my area which are usually banquet halls that have a back room or even the banquet hall itself where it's men only and we play cards, drink and eat. It's usually always been the older men but myself and my cousins have been going every Thursday because my uncles and older cousins get together that night and they get happy when we show up, they are getting older so we want to spend time with them while we still can. Lately we have been seeing younger and younger groups there. I would equate this to the "lodges" that white men used to have, the elks the moose whatever they are called. Those are still around but from what I hear it's all old dying off men, no young people anymore and many of them are closing.

Someone with some financial means who can absorb losses for a period might do well to open something like this which is geared towards young men.

Which is your culture that you referred to? As an older ethnic European white guy, living abroad, I am pretty much odd man out, on all counts.

1.Buy a motorbike
2. Gun ranges
3. Call up your old friends and go to a bar/restaurant.

You don't need a place to go, it's about the company you keep

Chaldean, my parents are from Iraq. The "clubs" I'm referring to are here in the USA. You would be more than welcome to come sit with us, we would happily teach you the card games and stuff you with food and whiskey making sure you come back every week.

I would love that. Unfortunately, I live in Europe.

Unfortunately we will have to create our own “men’s groups” nowadays I think. I organise a game of golf on a monthly schedule with some good old mates, as well as catching up with some old friends from high school for a feed and a few drinks monthly. I look forward to them like a young child does on Christmas eve.

I just saw this before reading your post:

I do the same. I fly back to see my old friends on a quarterly basis.

Out here I ride bikes whenever I can with my mate. I play football weekly.

How effective are memes and the people who consistently point things out on Twitter, even when they aren't grifting, but make legitimately good takes and point things out. Does that do anything? Those guys seem to be doing well for themselves, but is the needle moving on anything? It seems to create counter-meme activity on leftist controlled social media, like reddit, Youtube, FB, and so on. I am reminded of the protestant reformation and counter-reformation that culminated in the 30 years war. Is there a better alternative to information warfare, what is its endgame?
