I used to be a soccer player and I wont mention dates and names but back in the days less than 2 decades ago THE best under 18 soccer team in South Africa was an all white team, they beat every single other team in SA by far, they even played in international world cups many times and would reach the quater finals etc, even back then they had to have at least 1 black player on the team to go overseas and the black guy thay went never played a single game so the better player had to stay back in South Africa and miss out and it was a thorn in the flesh to the teams performance.
Fast forward 1 year later and bafana bafana is 95% black and they arr apparently the best players in the country but the juniour thats a year younger that are always the champions are all white? What most Aussies don't understand about the decline of Rugby Union in Australia is that it has nothing to do with the NRL or Aussie Rules.
NRL and Aussie Rules have always been strong working class sports.
Arguably the NRL was way stronger in Australian Society in the 1980s and 90s, before the back-stabbing Super League debacle.
But that had no bearing on Rugby Union.
What has happened is that the Australian middle class has been atomised and its sons playing soccer one day, playing basketball the next and trying a dance class the next day, - this is all progress as is their addiction to devices and screens) whilst their fathers grew up in houses where they were told "You're playing rugby and that's it"
So the issue is that the sporting culture of the middle class has been destroyed. The Aussie Middle Class (excepting Elites, the Middle Class are usually one 50% of a society with the working class providing the other) has lost its muscularity. And that's a backward step (altho a positive for the jewish social engineers).
The style of Australian Rugby in the 80s when they were World no 1 was very middle class, players weren't physically big but the playbooks, the alignment, the ball transfer style, the sheer speed, all the different running angles were nothing like the NRL but an example of very smart and clever problem solving.

I have very little but at least some idea of what rugby is because it is in many ways similar to US gridiron football. As for the history and intricate political workings of the sport I have no idea but it is interesting.
