The Indo-Pacific Geopolitics Thread

This is a major problem with political correctness. If you want to boost birth rates suddenly you’re seen as dehumanizing women.

Which has been the big lie all along. Women aren't happy without a family yet they were told they could only be happy being single. It hasn't worked and now developed countries are desperate to figure out how they can reverse course on this without angering the very institutions that worked tirelessly to implement this social change.

US Army will deploy the new "Typhon" MRC (Mid-Range Capability) missile system - basically a containerised naval VLS launcher, mounted on a semi-trailer - in the Philippines for military exercises.

Currently this system allows the Army to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles and SM-6 interceptors from a mobile, land based platform, but in the future it could be used to launch hypersonic missiles (if we ever finish them).

The article titled "1 vs. 29: South China Sea Electronic War Ends with US GPS Loss and Retreat" details an intense electronic warfare incident between China and the United States in the South China Sea on June 30, 2024.

I quote from article {the official Weibo account of China’s Southern Theater Command—“Thick smoke deep in the blue sea, good night”—sparked a massive online reaction, leaving netizens speculating about the secrets behind it.}

The key points are as follows:

- ‌‌Initial Incident‌‌: The conflict began with a minor confrontation between the Philippines and China at Ren’ai Reef. The US, supporting the Philippines, organized a joint military exercise involving Canada and Japan in the South China Sea as a smokescreen and misdirection, actual intent was to deploy anti-submarine devices to monitor Chinese submarines.

- ‌‌Chinese Response‌‌: China detected the US's high-tech monitoring equipment (sonar buoy) being dropped by a P-8A anti-submarine patrol aircraft and launched a recovery operation. This led to a standoff between Chinese and US fleets, with the US deploying electronic warfare aircraft to interfere with Chinese operations.

- ‌‌Electronic Warfare‌‌: Both sides engaged in electronic warfare, with the US using Growler and RC-135 aircraft and China deploying Y-9 electronic warfare aircraft and the 815A electronic reconnaissance ship. The battle resulted in severe electronic interference, particularly affecting the northern Philippines.- ‌‌Outcome‌‌: The US fleet experienced a total loss of GPS signals and communication capabilities, forcing them to retreat. The electronic warfare caused a 12-hour communication blackout in the northern Philippines, drawing significant global attention.

- ‌‌Aftermath‌‌: The incident highlighted the advanced state of China's electronic warfare capabilities compared to the US, with critiques suggesting that US equipment is a generation behind China's technology.The article underscores the strategic importance of electronic warfare in modern naval conflicts and the shifting balance of power in the South China Sea. It is described as a war without smokes or fires but electronic warfare determines if one navy is able to blind and confuse the other navy so much so that if a hot war erupts one side has a distinct advantage.

From Brian Berletic re:Thailand

Thailand Court Rules to Disband US-backed Opposition Party "Move Forward"

The party's defacto leader, billionaire Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit had traveled to the US in 2018 to meet with the US State Department, USAID & National Endowment for Democracy (NED) subsidiary Freedom House, FARA documents revealed;

Upon returning to Thailand he pushed to cancel the Thai-Chinese high-speed railway, sought closer ties instead with the US, Europe and Japan, and co-led violent protests with NED funded organizations to try to seize power after losing the 2019 elections;

This latest ban will see core leaders removed from politics for 10 years, while remaining party members will simply create yet another US-backed party;

The ban has promoted US government complaints, and likely will prompt further US-sponsored instability

The US seeks to remove Thailand's military and monarchy from power and replace it with an obedient Westernized client regime eager to cut ties with China and use Thailand as a battering ram against China;

The US is similarly destabilizing the rest of Southeast Asia as part of its strategy of encircling China;

Here is a complete guide to US interference in Thailand including extensively documented evidence: https://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2020/08/the-complete-guide-us-government-role.html

Came across something about Thailand. Ground zero for boomer waifu adventures in Asia. Also as I once said ground zero for the Jew invasion of Asia. The video itself is not interesting. In fact it kind of broke my heart.

You have these white men just going out of the way to praise a foreign group of people, in this case the thais, trying to protect them since they live there. I understand the feeling.

You look at the comments and what do you notice? Literally no Thai commenting. They don’t care folks and honestly don’t have the IQ to care. They’re too busy watching “Black guy in Thailand?!? They love BBC??? So friendly!!!”and saying “welcome, so happy you like it here”. Not a joke, lol. Travel videos are a joke yet all these third worlders just want is a pat on the head.

The ICC has issued an arrest warrant for the Myanmarese junta leader Ming Aung Hlaing, citing crimes against humanity, ethnic cleasing and genocide in the handling of the Rohingya issue.

I'm curious what the real situation is here. My thoughts are that the Rohingya are pretty nasty themselves, and they probably deserve a lot of what's happened to them. I read the replies to both tweets and only saw this viewpoint in one reply. Most of the other replies make it sound like Hlaing really is the villain here.

barely 3 days ago karim khan issued an arrest warrant to netanyahu for what he's been doing to the pallies.
now he just did the same for Myanmar because of the way that it has been fending off the rohinghians. never mind the grievances caused by said group, which caused the unavoidable pushback.

I'm kind of disappointed in him. at first it seemed as if he had seriously set out to face off against our Greatest Ally and make a statement to the world about what sort of leadership that country really had. it turned out that karim khan is just out to stand up for muslims in non-islamic countries, making them even more emboldened and entitled.

next if this schtick gets traction, he may as well go after Xi Jinping because of the way that the Han Chinese have been dealing with their troublesome uyghar minorities.

I'm just curious why the sudden burst of motivation to go out of his way and stick his neck out for a group that has been historically associated with more conflicts, terrorism and warfare than any other.

JD Vance visited India, laying the groundwork for a future containment and squeezing of China from the South. US weapon acquisition (including the F35), trade deals, cooperation in the energy sector and manufacturing outshoring are some of the agenda points. A baseline Terms of Reference for a future trade deal was agreed upon.

Yesterday Trump's announced the Golden Dome to the public. The Golden Dome is a multi layered defensive system tasked with protecting the US from ballistic missiles, advanced cruise missiles and hypersonic missiles. The estimated cost will be 175 billion USD, and the project will be headed by General Michael Gutlein

Washington, DC – United States President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have laid out their clearest plan yet for the “Golden Dome” missile defence programme, which would include putting weapons in space for the first time.

Speaking from the White House on Tuesday, Trump said he had “officially selected an architecture” for the system, designed to take down “hypersonic missiles, ballistic missiles and advanced cruise missiles”.

“I promised the American people that I would build a cutting-edge missile defence shield to protect our homeland from the threat of foreign missile attack,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

The Golden Dome system, he added, would include “space-based sensors and interceptors”.

“ Once fully constructed, the Golden Dome will be capable of intercepting missiles even if they are launched from other sides of the world and even if they’re launched from space,” Trump continued. “We will have the best system ever built.”

The announcement comes just less than four months after Trump signed an executive order kicking off the programme’s development. General Michael Guetlein – who currently serves as the vice chief of space operations at Space Force, a branch of the US military – is slated to manage the programme.

Speaking at the event, Hegseth hailed the plan as a “game changer” and a “generational investment in security of America and Americans”.

The White House did not immediately release further details about the missile defence system, and the Pentagon is reportedly still working out its capabilities and requirements.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated earlier this month that the space-based components of the Golden Dome alone could cost as much as $542bn over the next 20 years.

It noted that a high number of sensors and interceptors would be needed for a space-based system to be effective, particularly as foreign militaries like North Korea’s grow more sophisticated.

But on Tuesday, Trump outlined a much lower price tag and timeline.

“It should be fully operational before the end of my term. So, we’ll have it done in about three years,” Trump said.

He estimated the total cost to add up to about $175bn, adding that he planned to use existing defence capabilities to build the system.

But the funding for the programme has so far not been secured. At Tuesday’s news conference, Trump confirmed that he was seeking $25bn for the system in a tax cut bill currently moving through Congress, although that sum could be cut amid ongoing negotiations.

There is likely to be some variation in the total cost of the project. The Associated Press news agency, for example, cited an unnamed government official as saying that Trump had been given three versions of the plan, described as “medium”, “high” and “extra high”.

Those tiers corresponded to how many satellites, sensors and interceptors would be put in space as part of the programme. The news agency reported that Trump chose the “high” version, which has an initial cost ranging between $30bn and $100bn.

As he explained his plans for the Golden Dome on Tuesday, Trump cited several inspirations, including Israel’s “Iron Dome” missile defence system, which is funded in part by the US.

He also pointed to the work of a fellow Republican, the late President Ronald Reagan, who served in the White House during the Cold War in the 1980s

As part of his Strategic Defense Initiative in 1983, Reagan had proposed a barrier to nuclear weapons that included space-based technology.

“ We will truly be completing the job that President Reagan started 40 years ago, forever ending the missile threat to the American homeland,” Trump said.

But questions have persisted over the viability of a space-based defence system, its price, and whether it could ignite a new arms race.

Democrats have also questioned the possible involvement of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which is a frontrunner among the technology companies seeking to build key components of the system.

A group of 42 Democratic lawmakers have called for a probe into Musk’s role in the bidding process, pointing to his position as a special adviser to Trump and his substantial campaign donations to the president.

“If Mr. Musk were to exercise improper influence over the Golden Dome contract, it would be another example
of a disturbing pattern of Mr. Musk flouting conflict of interest rules,” the Democrats wrote in a letter, calling for the probe.

On Tuesday, Trump did not directly respond to a question about which companies would be involved in the Golden Dome. Instead, he highlighted that the system would boost industries in states like Alaska, Indiana, Florida and Georgia.

He added, “Canada has called us, and they want to be a part of it. So we’ll be talking to them.”

First reaction of the Chinese whom this is obviously for a big part about.

^This sounds like a trillion dollar boondoggle developed for Israel, it could stop Iranian and Houthi missiles, but it won't stop hypersonic missiles from either Russia or China, who also have the means to disable the satellites that are supposed to run that system.

The Changs are screeching hard about The Golden Dome project, which is defensive in nature yet will undo existing Chinese nuclear missile deterrents by weaponizing space and orbit. Ergo create a new balance of power through an orbital based fully integrated missile defence system (aka orbital kill switch) which translates to unmatched US dominance.

In news more related to this thread, China threatening to block water from India if the Indians do the same to the Paks.

Changs and their e-bagmen just playing dumb per usual, trying to flip the script and frame Chinese shenanigans as reactionary measures and victimhood in general. In short Chinese plans to divert waterways originating in the Tibetan Plateau/Himalayas have been over a decade old and are well in progress. There are currently at least half a dozen project underway to dam off/ redirect waterflows from the Tibetan Plateau towards arid areas of Xinjiang and Gansu and irrigate those plains. Obviously all that water won't be flowing towards India anymore.

The Red River Flag Project is tasked with de-desertifying large parts of mainly Xinjiang, Gansu and Inner Mongolia. Will redirect waterflows moving Southward towards the North.

The Yarlung River Dam project, a hydro project said to generate three times the energy provided by the Three Gorges Dam. Will dam off the main lifeline off the Brahmaputra River.

Recent decrease of water volume flowing through one of India's minor Tibetan Plateau originated rivers.

Today US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth spoke at the Shangri La Dialogue Forum in Singapore.

It was drummed up to be an important speech.

Main takeaways: the US is fully committed to the Indo Pacific, considers it it's main theater. US is not out there to hurt China yet will also not accept China bullying US allies in the region. China is building up its military rapidly, this is a point of concern which US must counter. Speaks about an urgent need for scaffolding the current deterrent and peace through strength.
