The Abortion Thread

I wouldn't put Romans 13 in the same category as Jesus whipping the money changers in the temple, those are different contexts.

Keep in mind Paul wrote Romans 13 to the church in Rome. He was well aware of how degenerate the Roman culture was and how oppressive the government was. He is not saying that we take everything (especially sin) lying down. If the day comes when the government forces you to rebel against God, then the right thing to do is obey God rather than men.
Thanks, it's an interesting topic, that I need to do some more digging in.

Because I can also see and believe that constantly struggling for worldly power is not the way to serve God.

Stability , like in a monastery, is also accepting the decision of the abbot.

If you like this topic, the Rule of St benedict is interesting to read. (also for worldly power)

This is an important quote from Paul, as in Church I see it often coming up, praying for our leaders. Somehow I always found it strange. How does it correspond with the Jesus whipping the money changers from the temple?

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

I think we need to read this in the time.

In ancient Israel, authority was initially tribal and decentralized. Later, a monarchical system was established with figures like Saul, David, and Solomon. These kings had considerable power, often combining political, military, and religious roles. However, they were also subject to divine law.

Usury, blasphemy, baby killing would be a breakage of divine law. Meaning death. No-one is bigger than God.

The bible often show tensions and conflicts between these various forms of authority. Prophets in the Old Testament frequently challenged kings, and in the New Testament, Jesus and early Christians often came into conflict with the religious authorities and Roman political powers.

Paul killed Christians under the authorities, until he received the grace of faith and became the haunted by the authorities. Paul challenged the worldly authorities.

I believe St. Augustine interpreted that line best when he said, "An unjust law is no law at all."

Think about it:

Lawful authority comes from God. So if there are unlawful rulers, they are not from God. Likewise how can an unlawful law be a law, since all law comes from God? Hence unlawful rulers are just pretenders usurping the throne of power who will eventually be replaced according to God's will.

We see this especially in how Christ challenges the authority of the Pharisees, and prophesizes the destruction of the Temple. He made that prediction precisely because those tasked with governing the Temple had abdicated their responsibility, and so it was only a matter of time before God destroyed them.

“Asked specifically about the heartbeat law, Scott declined to answer and reiterated only that ‘If I was writing a bill, I think 15 weeks is where the state is.’”

These people are such unprincipled, godless scumbags. It’s either a child from the beginning or it isn’t at all. There isn’t some arbitrary legal evolution that confers life. Lol “where the state is.”

Took an abortion pill, still ended up dying.

MISINFORMATION: The media continues to falsely report that a woman died from 'delayed' reproductive care. The woman who died actually died from complications related to a medical abortion she received. One of the possible side effects of a medical abortion is an infection related to the body NOT expelling some of the tissue from the aborted fetus. The woman who died got a serious infection that began shutting down her organs. By the time she arrived at the ER she was in bad shape. They began giving her antibiotics and fluids before eventually operating to remove the infected tissue. Within 20 hours of arriving at the ER she died. She was not seeking an abortion - she had already aborted her baby many days/weeks earlier. She was seeking medical care for a very serious infection. Her death is tragic but it is not the result of 'delayed reproductive' care - she died from a side effect of 'reproductive care'. In Georgia there is an ironclad exception to the states gestational limits on abortion - the health of the mother is paramount and doctors are not only allowed to perform abortions they are required to if a mother's life is at risk. These fake stories are designed to help Kamala Harris - the fact is that President Trump supports saving lives...
