Yeah we have been discussing it here for a long time now; I should have been more specific in saying the so-called "leaders" and politicians, particularly the UA and UA supporters don't seem to be taking it seriously or considering how their actions could affect others.
Russia's ability to replace these losses - even on the low side - is minimal at best. TU-95s and TU-22s make up the backbone of the fleet and those cannot be replaced. They have only produced two new-build TU-160s in the past two and half years; 50 is very ambitious given the state of affairs.
Sukhoi has only delivered ~22 combat-coded SU-57s over the past fifteen years since the prototype flew; the SU-75 is pretty much vaporware at this point without a single prototype even flying for 4 years after it broke cover.
This is impressive attack politics aside. Definitely a watershed moment in combat history. And a clear wake-up call to all those who do not take issue with foreign/Chinese ownership of vast tracts of land adjoining US military installations.
Putin offered all these things before the war, and was shot down (pun intended). Now he's obviously going to demand more after going to all this trouble. Its very hard to see the war ending with a peace treaty at this stage. Vladimir Putin has continued to try and negotiate in bad faith. It could work if he asked for only reasonable things such as:
-More freedoms and autonomy for people in the Donbass and Crimea region (However with them still remaining a part of Ukraine)
-An agreement that Ukraine will never join the EU or NATO
-An agreement that Ukraine will never have nuclear weapons or long range missiles
-Partial demilitarization of Ukraine
-All sanctions to be lifted from Russia and their assets to be unfrozen
-A new government that is pro Russia rather than pro west installed in Ukraine (i.e. similar to the pre-Maidan era)
I think those would be reasonable things to ask for. Instead the problem is Putin is trying to turn the whole exercise into a landgrab and wants to annexe a large chunk of Ukraine. Its very hard to have a peace deal under those circumstances hence the war is likely to drag on for now at least.

Yes unfortunately the Biden camp wanted the war. If Trump had originally been re-elected the original terms offered or something close to it would have been accepted by Trump. The West should have accepted the first offer when it was made, but the West wanted this conflict,
The Russian draft memorandum that was handed over to the Ukrainian delegation today has been published.
Russian demands for ending the war:Ukraine must:- legally recognize Crimea, DPR, LPR, Zapo and Kherson as Russian territory;- observe complete military neutrality, not join any blocs;- downsize the Ukrainian military, with limits both on personnel and weaponry;- disband nationalist military and paramilitary units;- give the Russian language official status and protect the “rights, liberties and interests” of the Russian population;- outlaw all Nazi organizations;- lift all restrictions on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church- lift all mutual sanctions
Russian demands for an immediate ceasefire:Ukraine must:- begin withdrawing its forces from Russian territory- stop mobilization efforts and begin demobilization- stop ALL foreign military aid- remove all third country military personnel from its territory- end martial law- schedule parliamentary and presidential elections no later than 100 days after the end of martial law

Ukraine and their US/European handlers will never accept that. No chance.
As for recognizing the new territory, that’s gonna be a sticking point. Maybe. If this war keeps going, (ukraine) could lose everything..

Vox Day has made some good observations about this (hopefully) late stage of the Russia-Ukraine war and late WW2 in Europe. Ukraine's Kursk offensive was very similar to the Ardennes offensive (Battle of the Bulge) in late 1944, a bold, desperate attempt by the losing party to change the course of the war by a surprise move that seemed to start out well but inevitably failed and did nothing to change the course of the war. They will make Ukraine fight to the last Ukrainian, that has been the plan all along.
Their war is PR-driven, that is why they emphasize operations like the drone truck airfield bombing, which gave their cause a much-needed shot in the arm as Russia was starting to dominate across the frontlines. Now the NAFO normies are jubilant again. Russia will move in on Sumy, Kharkov and Dnipro oblasts later this year and morale will drop again, until they pull off the next big PR operation...
Yes exactly, the cat is now out of the bag and on display for all the world (and any copycats) to see. It has been demonstrated in real time and quite successfully I might add.
It seems like Russia is stuck in a thought process from years ago where wars are fought on the front lines and non-military assets in general are expected to be left alone.
