Can anyone identify or feel my pain
Now I'm not traveling any more and am still having gym issues..
It brings back a nightmarish memory of the covid scamdemic days when the gyms were shut. That indeed felt like an additional conspiracy against masculinity.
There are gyms catering for women, all cardio and minimal weights, mainly pin-loaded, barely any free weights.
Then where I am some gyms are partially state run, linked to the local council very cheap but with long waiting lists. I'm on 2 waiting lists as my muscles slowly decline. Well, that's an exaggeration, I managed to lift twice in the last three weeks or so, and it was okay, but it's still bothersome.
Then there was a 3rd gym, no waiting list but hard to get to, well, not hard, but just a drive that I know I will be loathe to do with nasty traffic and very unusual and minimal opening hours that will drive me totally up the wall. Also, as for the bars you could potentially use with the bench press - it's an 8kg or 10kg bar. Not the 20kg Olympic bar I'm used to. I saw something that looked like an Olympic bar in the next room on the squat rack and asked how much it weighed - 15kg - it's an Olympic women's weightlifting bar - I never knew there was such a thing!
A complete guide to women's 15kg / 33lb olympic barbells for weightlifting, including what makes a good barbell and how to choose one.

Trying to turn us into poofters at every turn these days!
Actually one of the gyms I am waiting on, the heaviest dumbells are 30kg! Now I know that that is not a girl-weight only an extreme body builder woman would do exercises with anything with that, I've never seen it. And I won't be shoulder-pressing it, not at the moment anyway, I'd max out at 25kg. I may dumbell press that on the bench, I could definitely do that, at least a few reps. However I am not particularly massive, I'm cardio fit, but if
I can lift the heaviest dumbell in the gym for any exercise, then something is f__cking wrong!
You need a gym where there are 70kg dumbells gathering dust in the corner, and sometimes some steroid-pumping freak comes in and presses them.
Then, there was this very expensive gym where I did a one-off visit. The weights were in kilograms, and the treadmill was in miles per hour!! What are they trying to do to us! What are
miles doing in Europe.. Every time I warm up on that I'll be trying to multiply by 1.6 in my head and wonder why for such a hefty fee to join the gym they have come up with such insanity.
I suppose it comes down to having a certain gym routine since I was in my early teens.
Then there is a gym nearby, but I refuse to pay for another year there as I don't like the people who run it or the people who go there. Just a bothersome atmosphere. A family with a now overweight has-been patriarch body builder who has since really packed on the pounds and stands there staring at everyone like a miserable unshaven bulldog. The whole family carry a vibe of not wanting to be there. One of his sons had a go at me for no reason at all about doing deadlift in a slightly different spot. It was really purely BS. Mask-wearing, vaccinated crabs-in-a-bucket BS. He did not like what I was lifting on that day, that was all there was to it.
