Called it on Monday. Unfortunately, this was fairly predictable given the power of the Jewish lobby and Trump's past behavior. Now it just remains to be seen how Iran and its allies respond. I don't think Trump wants to escalate beyond these airstrikes - he has a marked preference for one-and-done attacks as a show of strength - but now that he's foolishly kicked the hornet's nest, he has no control over what happens next. But given the stakes and the egos involved on all sides, it's hard to imagine de-escalation at this point.

This is not ending any time soon.
 
It's obviously too soon to speak with any certainty about the future outcomes of this debacle, but we can be absolutely certain of at least one long-term consequence: Trump and the Israelis have permanently killed any incentive for nuclear non-proliferation. Every country on earth with the capacity to do so, if they have any sense of self-preservation, will now begin a secret nuclear weapons program. North Korea demonstrated the wisdom of this approach, Iran (and Libya before it) has now perfectly illustrated the drawbacks of failing to do so. There is no longer any ability to negotiate with the U.S., one must either bend the knee to them completely or else possess sufficient strength (a nuclear armament) to deter their aggression.

I agree with this. While it could escalate a bit from here, it's still within my theory that it's theatrics and I also don't think Trump will do much more than this, or at least call for any more action for a while. A support of this is that BTC has not dropped significantly in the last several hours, and it is the only market that trades right now.

If Iran does demonstrate the ability to successfully annihilate American bases in the ME, then I would anticipate Trump to simply leave. As long as those nuclear reactors are gone, there's no real reason for American soldiers anymore. Trump has satisfied his debt to the Talmudic lobby and doesn't want a protracted war.

This bombing was stupid, short-term thinking on Trump's part, but future administrations can deal with the fallout. Trump wants the remainder of his term to be uneventful and has not shown any appetite for war.

Trump will not be on Mt. Rushmore though, this action has guaranteed it. He could have been great and stood up to the Talmudic lobby, now can he settle for being "better than Democrats," which is an extremely low bar.

Seymour Hersh called it indeed, man said Trump would bomb Iran to placate the AIPAC Jews, and said it would happen on the weekend to placate the Wall Street Jews.

That's called a deep understanding of dynamics.

I agree with your sentiment, but focusing on the President when our Congress is so deeply compromised feels like wasted energy.

Our President could be replaced 100x and wouldn't change anything with regards to Israel. Congress is the problem right now and in 2026 if we aren't electing anti-Israel candidates, then American truly gets what it deserves.

Maybe, but I only see Trump reacting if Iran puts pressure on the strait of Hormez. Otherwise those bases seem pretty unimportant now that Iran is castrated and all Iranian proxies are dead.
