Fr. Josiah Trenham

I thought we had a thread on him already but couldn't find one.

He recently posted this enjoyable interview, not much groundbreaking for those of us on CIK perhaps, but interestingly he addresses some of the arguments IIMT has been making about young men and the respective place of spiritual pursuits vs worldly political pursuits for Christians. It might be a decent one to share with friends or family who are more on the 'normie' side of the spectrum.

He also speaks out wonderfully against Zionists and points out that Jews hate Christ.

Haven't met him, but I have met some of his choir before and they are wonderful people. Based and loving.

The irony is the women component of Orthodoxy (at least in the west). At what point, if ever, I wonder, are the outspoken guys of Orthodoxy like Fr. Josiah (who I like btw) going to talk about how feminism is a much bigger problem than something like gays, which he has the cojones to talk about? It's a weird thing to think about. Family formation is far more affected by the lack of femininity and worldly things pursued by modern women than any subterfuge by gays, who of course rarely want anything to do with Orthodoxy.

Isn't the fact he is calling out Prots as feminine an indirect attack on feminism?

BTW the Antiochian Metropolitan of America just called out feminism over the recent deaconess scandal (see the Ortho News).

Most people, and certainly most women, aren't going to be putting two and two together like we do. What's more, men should be direct either way for leadership and effect. Calling protestants feminine, or anything else for that matter, doesn't help Orthodox people with family formation. Telling people who are Orthodox, especially the modern women, that they are entranced with other things of the world, might.

You may wish for Church leadership to be direct and attack feminism directly - and they do sometimes. My old Priest would regularly do so. They've done so since the 60's at least.

What's the point on beating an dead horse? Women who aren't convinced by now aren't going to be convinced by a new sermon against feminism. Instead, feminism is now mentioned as obviously false in passing, because all the attacks on it have been done and said already.

I haven't really seen the horse been hit even once, to be honest. I guess that's why we don't see this the same way.

Either way, the real change will happen when vast population changes occur, and/or the M:F ratio decreases.

You must have grown up in the Greek Church. Not a problem in the Antiochian Churches which are full of Priests like Fr. Trenham.

I think it's more of a regional thing, but some ethnicities are more prone to certain things, both good and bad. I think both the immigrant timing and faithful factor part of the equation have a lot to do with it. Typically, many of the arab groups are better at this, probably because they are smaller in numbers and haven't been around as long. They do well economically, though, so there is still quite a high percentage of princess and less traditional types.

Posting a video without any commentary is rather unhelpful and adds almost no value to the forum. How about offering a summary or insights to what you just watched to help others get into the video? Timestamps if you want to be extra Christian.

Point taken. At the time I posted it I thought it's a short video and wouldn't be painful.

I really enjoyed this video and learning about St. Gabriel of Georgia, Fool for Christ. It's a reminder to not tolerate blasphemy of our Lord, even in the face of militant atheism and socialist tyranny, which even today never seems to go away. We are in the midst of another age of horrendous blasphemy with the LGBT/transformer/Zio-whatever insanity. I'll probably be buying the book, myself.

For those interested, here is a film about the life of St. Gabriel:
