Donald Trump

Panama Canal, Greenland, Governor Trudeau, Mexico cartel incursions... One thing they have in common is a Monroe Doctrine, N. American/Atlantic, legit big-country Sphere of Influence theme.

Is Trump signaling to key players: you can keep your Syria, your NovoRossiya and your African ports, and we'll stay at home and expand our sphere locally? Just don't mess with us direct, or regionally. All such talk is a frame shift from long range, high risk int'l relations to regional dominance ideas. Or am I falling for 4D nonsense again?

Big countries do what they can. Small countries suffer what they must.

The first thing I thought of with Trump's Panama talk was the Darién Gap, which is notorious for corrupt funneling of migrants towards central America and eventually the border of the US. The point about the canal is probably an underhand way of Trump saying Panama is not pulling their weight in stopping illegal migrants first and foremost.

Great take. Hadn't really connected that though the Darien Gap is famous for snuggling. I saw Ben Burguam covering the issue on Bannon many times. Your comment makes sense at the signal behind the noise.

Trump doing some last minute Christmas shopping on amazon.

Trump isn't even in office and the wars are already starting to end.

But still, we'll never stop listening to the TDS screechers complain about how Trump is secretly controlled by the Yids and is going to war with Iran.
We are getting towards the tail end of the 50 - 60 Kondratiev cycle. History typically shows that at the end of the cycle when commodity prices become highly elevated global wars tend to break out as countries fight over scarce resources. Just like the economy war tends to have some element of cycles. A major War (possibly even World War 3) is not off the table yet.
