The right wing after Trump is going to be a civil war if Trump doesn't change course. The older GOP voters + the donor class (Reagan/Bush/Trump) v. the up-and-coming White Nationalists + People who simply just want to afford a house and have a job. Yes, the 5'6 that get2 cited was average height for Frenchmen at the time. Doubtless there were people with greater average height in other parts of the world.
We're verging off topic with this, but I've always found it such a bitter irony that the #1 physical characteristic men are judged and mocked for is height, which cannot be changed, and that short men just mostly bitterly accept this and soldier on. Whereas for women it's the most changeable physical characteristic of all, weight. But to suggest a woman consider losing weight in Clown World will bring the fury of hell to your door. Even if you do it out of genuine concern and losing weight would probably vastly improve everything for her.

I wouldn't be surprised if things were to move in that direction. Looking at the recent reconciliation with Zuck and Bezos, I think Trump is trying to rally all of America (industry, tech, culture, etc.) against the Chinese.
I think that is the playbook as well. A new cold war, but this time against China. The problem is, China is already way ahead of us, and their greatest weapon is our own diversity and immigration, which Trump thinks he can incorporate into his ideal new MAGA version of America. Trump is about to find out how "smart" he really is over the next 4 years.
