Get plastics out of your body and the body of anyone you care about

This 2004 Mainstream news article discusses how fish are becoming more female:
Male fish becoming female?

Girls have always gone into puberty earlier than boys, but the gap is widening; girls are going earlier, boys later.
Girls Are Going Through Puberty Earlier Than Ever Before, With Long-Term Health Risks
Puberty blockers were invented to attempt to help girls who start puberty crazy early, for example 8 years old. Now we give them to kids to help "transition" and say they're safe.

A more detailed version outlines how exposure to phthalates in many plastic items, especially during the prenatal period, can cause rats with male chromosomes to develop like females:
Shanna Swan shared with Joe Rogan her “disturbing” research into the effect plastics and chemicals are having on humans, including her fears that lower sperm counts in men could lead to a fertility crisis.

This Los Angeles area water supply is being fed plastic at absolutely insane clown world levels:
LA throws 96 million plastic balls into its water supply

The Wikipedia article calling this a conspiracy theory even admits that:
In contrast to claims about chemicals in the water, the effects of hormones on sexual orientation appear to occur at the prenatal stage, during organization of the brain.[14] Endocrine disruptor exposure during fetal development has been shown to affect sexual differentiation of the brain in animals,[15] however any effect on human sexual orientation or gender identity requires further research.[16][15]
Modern society supports the LGBT crowd, but if it becomes clear that there is something that can be done to avoid becoming homosexual, there could be a reckoning. There'll be massive pushback for sure though. I met a Saudi Arabian boy who transitioned to male soon after coming to the US. He said that prior to moving, his father would only permit him to study abroad in the US if he prayed more and stopped acting like a girl. It is not just a social contagion if even a boy growing up in such an environment went down that path. This also gives me more compassion for those struggling with gender dysphoria. If your food and water is contaminated, then there is a way to heal future generations.

You'll never remove all plastics from your environment. My non-scientific process is to remove as many as possible from the biggest sources of contamination. Some big sources I have contemplated:

1. Keurig Cups aka K-Cups
If you make coffee with one of these, you are feeding boiling water through plastic and ingesting many times the estrogen.
Switch to an all-glass or all-metal electric kettle for coffee or tea, and use a glass or metal french press. The handle might be plastic; you'll never get away from ALL plastics.

2. Plastic Spatulas
From my non-scientific research, most silicone products do not have the problems of

3. Any daily water bottle
If you drink out of a plastic cup once, you probably won't grow breasts. But with anything you use consistently, make sure it is glass, metal, or silicone. You can't be certain that all metal or silicone products have no contaminants, but better to stack the odds in your favor.

4. "It's BPA-free! It's safe"
This suggests it is plastic with less contaminants. It's still got contaminants.

5. Printed receipts, at restaurants, at the grocery store, etc.
Apparently the chemicals involved in receipt printers are the worst offenders. So:
- Don't eat receipts
- Don't lie in a bed of receipts

6. Polyester or nylon clothing
These materials are not natural; they are made of petroleum products.
Switch to wool and cotton, especially anything close to your skin. And remember to remind climate protesters that their clothes are made out of oil :sneaky:

7. Your tap water
Good idea: get a simple Brita or other water filter pitcher.
Better idea: install a reverse osmosis system in your kitchen.

Unfortunately, the reservoirs for the Brita pitcher and the reverse osmosis systems are both made of plastic :ROFLMAO: so while the filter may remove contaminants, the housing itself will add some amount back in. My understanding is that reverse osmosis systems filter out so many other non-plastic contaminants commonly in tap water, that it is still a dramatic net benefit.

The takeaway coffee cups worry me. Paper with a plastic coating on the inside. There used to be styrofoam but they got rid of that but it was probably also bad for you. During the pseudopandemic there was a switch to all these disposable cups to save us from 'the virus' but in a lot of coffee shops the disposable cups have become the new normal.

I have actually found the opposite where I live, places are refusing to give single use cups to anyone that is sitting in house, and charging extra for take out plastic cups. Coffeeshops also encourage you bringing your own cup to fill for takeout.

If you make your coffee or tea in plastic-free environment and then drink it in a plastic container, yep, same issue.

Also beware of drinking out of a plastic water bottle that has been sitting in a car. It has likely been through a heat wave in the sun and has the plastics now baked into it.

This company makes plastic-free products with both health and "ending fossil fuels" as parts of their agenda. Good enough for me:

Stainless steel thermos:

Glass travel mug:

Get an Alexapure. I have bought several and they work great. Giant carbon filter, takes a while but the water comes out very clean.

I do not recommend it for well water. I bought one for my parents and the water plugged it up solid in about 2 months.

Interesting. How hard was the well water, how much filtering was done before the Alexapure? If you held a glass up to the light did it look clear?

The water came out clear if I remember correctly, but the filters themselves are expensive and plug up quickly.

If I had to do it, I'd use a cheaper system to get the big stuff out like a brita, then I'd run it through the alexapure. Or just get reverse osmosis.

The advantage of the alexapure ofc is that its a countertop model that only uses gravity so it works even where there is no power.

I wouldn't be shocked if there was a way to homebrew your own giant carbon filter setup.

Just a money saving tip, it's easy to make your own filter.

I make my own water filters. It's easy. Ebay has lots of vendors selling activated charcoal granules, usually in for aquariums. I use are a cotton face wipe and a sponge pushed down into neck of a cut up plastic milk bottle, back filled with the charcoal. I know the materials I use, being oil based, are not the best, but the water comes out tasting much nicer. My plan is, at some point, to cut the bottom off a wine bottle and use only cotton to hold in the charcoal.

I've done a deep dive into this after some potential tox issues so I'll add in what I've found. Staying away from toxins definitely doesn't come without a financial/convenience cost but it's getting better.

Pods for those that don't want to give up the convenience (taste is not lacking btw). Since I drink only decaf now, I've included decaf made with Swiss water process. They also make caffeinated products:

Stainless steel water jug. Many out there. Can fill up your water jug before work with home RO water. Larger is better unless you also need one for the gym.

Chillys makes a 1.8L stainless steel with a handle.

I did see these knock offs on eBay without a handle:

I currently own this RO system for over a year and it's been excellent. Water purity has not changed at all. Although it does have plastic, I felt the benefits outweighs the plastic. I owned a Britta and it was garbage. The filter doesn't clear enough and you need to change them often. Plus the inconvenience of having to fill a water tank nonstop.

There is a full stainless steel RO system out there although I do not have it yet:

I have used some of this guy's references that has also done a deep dive.

Laundry (once you stop using store bought detergents, you will become literally sick when you smell a shirt cleaned with Tide for example).

Hand soap (buy a stainless steel foaming dispenser):

Dish soap:

Also, do not forget about food storage which is critical! The glass Pyrex stuff is great. Do not heat up stuff in plastic.

I have a lot more if anyone is interested in something particular.

I like the idea of a stainless non tank RO system. I'd be curious if the plastic load reduction considering the filter media looks to still have plastics but maybe once it crosses the membrane it picks very minimal up again. Will have to do more reading on that as I've been wanting to get away from the plastic storage tank.
And I couldn't agree more on getting away from scented detergents from the store. I can't stand scented things and I can smell people from feet away by which detergent they use. It's very gross to me. Thanks for all those links!

How does the Meliora products compare to the Charlie's products?

My wife seems to like it. And the clothes actually smell like clothes when they are done. Zero chemical smell. I have yet to use Charlie's but just looking at it it's definitely using plastics. Meliora has one of the cleanest profiles I've seen. Paper and steel supplies only. Refills come in paper bags.

It's also boarding passes. After reading this, the extent of endocrine disturbance I will handle receipts like something toxic. Try to avoid the thermal paper.

Some places of course are promoting payment apps and email receipts as a solution, I'd prefer a return to dot matrix printers on regular paper.

Wow I didn't even think about boarding passes. I always did my best to avoid clown world apps and electronic check ins of any sort.

Great post and great thread. Keep it coming, guys!

I recently started going back to the gym. Went through all my old workout clothes and saw they all tried to sneak in some zog materials. So I just ordered a 100% merino wool shirt from online, as well as 100% cotton shorts.

The wool shirt took one or two sessions to get used to, as you feel a bit hotter at the start of your workout than normal. But the cool (literally) thing is that your temperature doesn't really rise from there, whereas the gross synthetic "wicking" sports shirts of all types start out cool but by the end you can't breathe and your skin feels terrible.

For water and teas we use glass cups and jugs. And I take a stainless steel water bottle on walks and to the gym. Wood and stainless steel and silicon tools in the kitchen, along with stainless and cast iron and ceramic vessels. Stainless kettle. The plastic tupperware is only ever used for things that are room temp or below that will go in the freezer. Heating up will be done in a stainless pot on the stove. We use a Bodum or moka pot for coffee.

My favorite glass for practical use (both residential and commercial) is Duralex (Picardie series). I highly recommend buying some while it is still available, as Covid destroyed this proud French company and I think it may be fatal. The glasses can handle quick temperature changes and even some bumps/drops, they stack well to save space, and their volume suits the civilized life (they make 2oz espresso shot glasses, 1 cup normal glasses, 36cl and 500ml beer bottle and US pint glasses). Bought a set of the three larger sizes a year ago for $64 CAD and now they are $100 (if you can find them).

This is all a very minor cultural inconvenience at first, but once you get used to it, it's all way better and not at all a hassle. In fact, it's somewhat meditative and pleasing.

I was considering starting another thread on removing toxins, but there is much of an overlap with the microplastics in what I am going to post here.

I am starting with this one, six ingredients to avoid when purchasing vitamins or supplements:

This is from an acquaintances blog:

"These ingredients can cause bloating, block nutrient uptake, harm the gut lining, and prevent mental clarity:

Maltodextrin - primarily derived from genetically modified corn and has been shown to cause bloating, alter the gut lining, and brain fog.

Potassium Sorbate - is a preservative used to prevent mold growth in foods such as cheese, yogurt, wine, dried meat, pickles, apple cider, and many herbal dietary supplements. Potassium Sorbate can cause damage to the lymphocytes.

Soy Lecithin - has been shown to impact digestion and reduce the absorption of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, and zinc, and may equally cause stunted growth in children.

Critic acid - during the 1970s critic acid was derived from fruits such as lemons and limes. Afterwards citric acid became derived from GMO mold & GMO corn syrup. The mold )Aspergillosis) can cause inflammation, bloating, nausea, and other allergic reactions.

Artificial colors - such as yellow 5 have been linked to behavior disorders, damage the DNA, causes cell mutation, and cellular damage.

Artificial or Natural flavors - at the moment there are about 1300 different chemicals approved for flavoring agents and due to the current regulations companies do not need to disclose the chemicals used in a flavoring agent. These flavoring agents can be made up of just about anything including pig bones, msg, and other chemicals which may lead to health issues and alterations in dopamine."

Short video expose on natural flavors:

Also stay away from energy drinks. Celsius has a lot of illegal drugs in it!

plastic cutting boards, pans with a non stick layer are especially bad because they go directly into the food.

hot showers or sauna evaporate toxins in the water and when you inhale it is worse than getting it on the skin, so cooler showers are better or filtering it first.

Avoid all toothpaste, deodorants, shampoos, facial products, sunscreen instead go with natural alternatives made of pure natural ingredients like aloe vera, butter, coconut oil without any plastics or added chemical compounds.

Be very carefull with any ''medication'' you decide to take, only take those you cant avoid and for as little time as possible. Always check the compounds and research their effects and side effects.
