The Venezuela Thread

Trump is head on confronting the drug cartels in this hemisphere for a handful of reasons.
So that US can be the sole drug cartel of the Americas?

Anyone believing the fake'n'gay drug excuse twenty years after the fake'n'gay 'mass destruction weapons' excuse is a hopeless, pitiful NPC.

$50 oil would actually be a good thing for China, even if Russia wouldn't like it.
I doubt that OPEC would allow that to happen. Trump has already tried to pressure them to increase production and got major blowback. It would cause irreparable damage to Middle Eastern relations.

We were staging our forces in region for months. In the open. China had ample time to counter our moves - providing Venezuela with military assistance, or even security guarantees. They did nothing. Now it's too late.
China is not willing to fight a proxy-war on the other side of the planet. They also knew whatever they gave Venezuela would be pretty much useless without years of training. China fights it's wars through trade. If they want to hurt the US badly, they simply cut off the supply of rare eaths, on which they hold a monopoly of production.

Taiwan is a whole different ballgame. The Neocons needs to think about what the loss of Nvidia would mean to them. China most definitely has the ability to assert it's sovereignty over Taiwan. Chinese ship building capacity is 600x greater than the US. They can replace naval losses, the US cannot.

The primary goal is to weaken Russia.

It´s all banker wars. Any other narrative is plebeian nonsense.

Rothschild approved:

Either way Maduro was a dumb shithead. I had a venezuelan construction worker once. He was a useless retard. But still the things he told about Venezuela. Hopefully venezuelans get a better retard to lead them. Having the biggest oil reserves in the world and living in poverty.

Investing in Venezuela future would be a no brainer. If things stabilize. There´s really nice beaches there. I think there was a thread in RVF about this.

Russia was the goal of this operation. And Putin is about to lose a shit ton of revenue. The drop on oil price will probably put a strain in their economy and ruble. India can now buy Venezuelan oil. Saudi Arabia has to dance US tune. And BRICS bloc just took a massive beating.

US department updated their warning for US citizens not travel to Russia.

Russia is the biggest loser from this. Maybe they negotiated something.

This was just naked imperialism, straight up international gangsterism by the biggest, baddest, and most ruthless gang on the planet: the United States Government. This is no different than the mafia shaking down a successful business, the owner refusing to pay, and then that owner suddenly having a "mysterious accident" or going missing. All this nonsense about Maduro being some sort of criminal or running a drug cartel is just that; this was blatantly just a power play. They did it simply because Venezuela has something they wanted, and they calculated that they could take it without much difficulty.

The long-term fallout of this operation is of course impossible to predict (i.e. a Venezuelan migrant crisis, a possible Venezuelan civil war or prolonged insurgency, similar regime change operations undertaken in other countries), but in the short term a success like this always looks like a win. I wouldn't have supported something like this based on principles of non-intervention, so all I can do is shake my head. But the reality is that this is simply what international power politics looks like, and has always looked like. There is no morality among great powers, nor are there principles. There are only interests and capabilities. One dog or another will always be the biggest and the meanest on the block, and he will do as he pleases to the others, until another dog takes his place. And if you are that big, mean dog, and you don't take advantage of your strength while you have it, you are doing yourself a disservice. It's very easy to disapprove of a lot of the things Trump has been doing lately, but he seems to at least recognize this basic fact of great power politics, for better or worse.

There was something in the news about maybe 35 years ago, about break even fusion. For a short period of time scientists were very excited that they were getting close, but that didn’t happen yet.

I’m not saying it can’t or won’t. Even if we did perfect breakeven fusion and have unlimited energy., the military arms industrial complex would find something else to make wars over, they’re not just going to give up that revenue stream

Edit, my point was, we don’t know if the unlimited energy is 2 years away or 20 years away or 200 years away or never

Thorium molten salt nuclear plants already are there, they will roll them out by the dozens next decade. In addition to being safe with no radioactive waste, they can also be small and don't require being near water for cooling.

The United States, Europe, and others studied molten salt reactors decades ago and walked away. Not because they were impossible, but because conventional uranium reactors were already entrenched, regulated, and profitable. Thorium was disruptive before disruption was fashionable. China stayed with it and built materials science programs around it. They accepted slow progress. They ran experiments without promising headlines, and now they are the only country that can point to an operating thorium molten salt reactor that actually does what the textbooks said it should.

Fusion is no longer a pipe dream, and set to start operating in China within a decade.

Venezuela's oil is still going to loom large in the next couple of decades, in addition to their other mineral resources.

Yup. Politics and crime are the same thing. An ugly truth is that on some level, a government has to be "evil" for the good of it's people. The government lies to you so that you don't realize this, but it's the truth. What galls me about this instance is that I know this will do nothing to benefit the American people, but will instead be for the good of special and foreign interests. The system exists for itself.
