Anybody else think the military is quickly turning into a personal grift whereby "service" members are actually ripping off citizens in the most insane ways, with their only incentive to serve themselves? Example
Here
Hear me out gents: Yes, our current disability system seems to have morphed into a total and complete grift, but I think there is something far more cynical going on beneath the surface here, of which this disgusting disability fraud is only a symptom. That issue is this: Our current military is viewed by most people in this country as a way to enrich themselves at the expense of their fellow citizens. It is tyranny of the same type that roman tax-collectors placed on their contemporaries in their times. It is evil, and unsustainable for a "free country". I'll explain below:
I live in a VHCOL city with a large military presence, and while I bust my tail to provide for my family, I've noticed some uncomfortable truths regarding the military presence here. The first and most striking has been that EVERYBODY, and I mean everybody, that I talk to is on full disability from their time in the military. It is absolutely out of control. My friend who is a full time body-builder, legitimately entering competitions, is on full time disability for his 6 years of service. My other acquaintance surfs and trains BJJ daily, yet also on full time disability from his 4.5 years of service. These are young men, late 20's, who will be collecting a full disability paycheck for the rest of their lives. That doesn't seem right. Yet they openly brag about how they now receive a 4K/month, tax free, check
for the rest of their lives. And yes, this is becoming insanely common (see the article I linked earlier).
Not only do these men receive checks from the government, they often go and get 6-figure jobs. And the disability checks keep coming even if they do have these jobs. And to make matters worse, they are exempt from property taxes as "disabled veterans" in many states. It is disgusting.
While this type of behavior may seem to only point to our selfish and entitled culture, it has serious consequences. For example, let's say you live in a city where ~40% of the citizens are "disabled." On top of their corporate salary, they are making full disability, getting free healthcare via the VA (therefore keeping more money per month, that I'm paying for my healthcare), and ALSO not paying property taxes on their real estate holdings. That is so lopsided in their favor, that they can afford WAY more house than anybody else. And we wonder why housing prices have skyrocketed? It's partly because of the military turning into a grift. And make no mistake, these military people ALL do it. I've met 04's who have 5 houses, because they also get subsidized housing loans through the VA loan (no money down, lower interest rates, etc). It's completely unfair.
And don't even get me started on these people's gaming of the tax system. They claim residency in NV or FL or something to escape the state income tax, while living in and owning 3 houses in CA... How is this legitimate? We all pay for the upkeep of roads and have to put up with these gay vehicle restrictions, yet military members with their NV license tag can drive around lifted monster tucks without paying a dime of CA tax... They benefit from the infrastructure and administrative state we all pay for, while vesting into the real estate market, but don't pay taxes for any of it. All because they are "serving" us.
Now some of them will say "well I'm temporarily deployed here so..." but we all know that is nowhere close to the truth. Most of these people own several million dollars of real estate here, live here, have kids here, etc. Most of these people are just gaming the system. How is that respectable behavior from a citizen? Either we all play by the same rules, giving up the same rights to leviathan in order to create a safe and stable society, or none of us do.
Now here is the icing on the cake. Trump asked the west coast seal teams to go into Mexico and do some training with their law enforeceemtn to go after the cartel. But the CO of the teams said no, because he was worried that their families living in SD would be targeted. WTF???? Thats your job dude. To wage war against our enemies. You don't get to exist as a midivil knight, living the high life off the sweat of the taxpayer, and then say "Oh, time to do our job? and it might have actual consequences? Nahhh. Our real estate holding here in SD are too valuable." It's a total joke.
So what we have today is this: A caste society whereby the military elite have special powers and privileges, and take full advantage of it. It is, in every way, forced quartering of troops. In the most cynical and modern fashion. It's evil, and it must stop. Or we will no longer have a free society. We will have an increasingly wealthy military officer class, who own everything and lord it over their fellow Americans in the MOST cynical fashion (as they are currently doing), and everybody else.
And my favorite part is when they try to claim "well, they sent me into the meat grinder, and now my knee hurts, blah blah blah..." Who is "they"??? Last time I checked, it's a voluntary military. You chose to go into it. Nobody forced you into the military. You chose to, likely driven by ego or because you had nothing else to do, and now you want to claim that "they" ruining your life??? No, you ruined your own life, now deal with the consequences. And btw, thats what "service" really is. Is anybody driven by motivation to "serve" their country when the incentives are this skewed? And we wonder why the rank and file are filled with cynical yes-men who toe the woke party line in order to keep their pensions and gravy train flowing...
We're reverting to medieval caste society gents. Simple as that.
