Wrist watches thread

Swiss watches all the way. I got this one a few years ago and love it.

The Casio with the world map always interested me but I never got a good deal on it.

Looks way better than the ones I found before. My current one is almost like it except without the world map stuff. I got a share of compliments on it, and there was a time period where my glasses were the same color, which I thought was cooler than it actually was. Navy blue is an amazing color however.

Ended up buying the Casio A700w-1a (silver) for a good price.

Love the way it looks and the fact it is not at all 'bulky'.

Unlike many people I come across, I bought this watch for functionality as opposed to an accessory. Been wearing it daily to work.

With that being said, I am open to buying another watch that looks real good and perhaps a bit more 'flashy' (not that the Casio isn't). Any recommendations?

Be careful out there boys, the clones are getting pretty damn good. I picked up a GMT Master ii recently, my watch smith and a pawn broker both authenticated it before I took it to a watch dealer and he picked it apart to find evidence that it was absolutely a fake. The pawn broker offered me 15k for it, I bought it to keep not to sell though. Otherwise there would a fake rolex for sale at a pawn shop in Michigan....

Getting my money back for it now.

Should have sold him the fugazi ;)

Not going to lie it was tempting to go back and take the 15k but it would have came back to me one day, someone would have found out eventually and the chain of custody would have came back to me, pawn shops are required to keep records of all that. By then it would have been too late to get my money back and of course there would have been some legal issues.....I did think about it though....

^^ The above reminds me of a case study I did on GE cars in the China market over a decade ago. The Chinese set up an entire fake factory, complete with fake logo and everything, and were churning out fake GE cars. When GE found out they were shocked -- the tolerances on the welds and door seems were better than those coming from the "legit" factory!

I don't think this is a problem with Rolex but I've been impressed with the Chinese 1963 mechanical I bought. The Chinese lack a sort of creativity but they are extremely skilled at iterative perfection (probably the main reason the CPU market is based there).
