What are you listening to?

Mayte Martín - No Pensar Nunca en la Muerte

This is a bullfighter song.

I'm listening to a Peterson's playlist. I didn't know they do secular songs. I've only heard them do fantastic renditions of hymns up to now..

Anyway, here's a fantastic rendition of a hymn, with some serious bluegrass jamming!

Come, ye weary, heavy-laden
Lost and ruined by the fall
If you tarry 'til you're better
You will never come at all

I will arise and go to Jesus
He will embrace me in His arms
In the arms of my dear Savior
O, there are ten thousand charms

I like this one too

Downloaded some Beatles songs to listen to while I drive. Some of the new mixes are really good, they sound like more like the original mono rather than the awful stereo versions that came out in the 80s.

I downloaded Help in Mono just now. Yesterday is one of my favorite songs ever.

Insane how you get better quality on the black flag than on official streaming, thanks to the stereo versions.

Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.

John Cooper, the lead singer of Skillet, is a brother. He wrote a good book that came out last November called Weak, Wimpy, & Woke decrying how far the modern church has strayed from the Biblical Gospel.

Al Bowlly Lew Stone Monseigneur Band - My Woman 1932

This is an awesome version! But it's had some famous covers over that last decades. Someone wrote this in the comments:

"Bing Crosby wrote the lyrics and recorded the original version on February 23, 1932, NYC. Music by Max Wartell & Irving Wallman. 16 days before this Lew Stone version was recorded in London (3/11/32– but not released until 1933). Crosby‘s version is a straight dark ballad without the melodic swing dance band elements. Kudos to Lew Stone for the creative instrumental arrangement & and sung by South-African Al Bowlly. This was the B-side of the 78! Famously, covered by White Town (1997), Tyler James(2005), Princess Chelsea(2009), Naughty Boy(2010), and Dua Lipa(2020). Dua Lipa’s is the SIXTH cover!"

Listening to this. It made me feel something, which is a nice change to the drudgery of middle age
