Weird Things You've Noticed Recently

I’ve recently taken an interest in bug genocide, watching them get gassed, blown up, poisoned and burned alive in their nests. It’s a war out there, and I like seeing our victories documented for posterity.

I bought a building once that had bees living in the cinder blocks, massive colonies of them the building didn't have a tenant for years. I called dozens of places asking them if they wanted the bees, you always hear about how important the bees are and how everyone's wants them blah blah blah. Nobody wanted anything to do with them, mind you I was willing to pay well for this including paying for a pro to chop up the wall if they needed I'm a nature lover and didn't want to just kill them. Well all these bee keepers and "conservationists" wanted nothing to do with them, they all told me to just kill them. I even contacted some local places who had it plastered all over their social media about not killing bees and how they are rescuing all of them bullshit bullshit, all just talk, big shocker I know.

So the war started, I got bug bombs and just dropped them into the opening in the cinder block where they were coming in and I left for the day. The building had large windows running along the top of it end to end, the next day there were SHEETS of bees on the windows, I am not exaggerating you could not see window anymore all you could see was bees. I called again to all the places telling them they don't need to do any actual work now all the bees are out just come collect them or do whatever it takes to get them outside. They didn't care, again nobody wanted anything to do with it. I really didn't have a choice at that point, I got commercial bug spray hooked it up to a jet and sprayed all the windows down.

It sucked but it got it done, we were sweeping up dead bees for days.

That's really too bad. I would hate to have to kill bees like that but there's only so much you can do without professional help.

Felt like complete shit about it, believe me I tried there wasn't anything I could do. All the bluster you hear about people saving the bees and whatever else is all complete bullshit, I talked to a dozen organizations/companies and was willing to pay whatever they needed to safely get them out. The only people interested were exterminators.....

I think you can vacuum them up too. Sounds weird but I’ve seen it done. I don’t know about on that scale though.

I’m presently dealing with squash bugs. I hate them, they’re ruining my plants. They smell disgusting when you crush them and contain this unsettlingly blue ooze that looks artificial. Nasty little bio weapons programmed to destroy my garden. Today I think I finally vanquished them, as I only saw one or two of them when I checked this morning. I’ve been murdering them for weeks and scraping their eggs off of the underside of the leaves. They’ve left scars though.

We have a bunch of wasps too but honestly they don’t bother me unless I’m eating something outside. We’ve declared a truce, for now.

I think you can vacuum them up too. Sounds weird but I’ve seen it done. I don’t know about on that scale though.

Doesn't matter now this was like 15 years ago when I bought my first building and those thousands upon thousands of honey bees are long dead. I know it's really stupid but honestly I still think about it, really sucked that I had to kill them all and even my old employees still bring it sometimes it was so disheartening. Vacuuming them would have been quite an adventure but honestly with the right shop vac and some courage that might have actually been possible. The places I talked didn't even suggest anything like that, they just didn't care at all then when you go on their pages it's all about caring about the bees and conservation.....all bullshit.

We have squash bugs here in Michigan they have been all over my peach tree, I hate those bastards but I also don't want to spray my peaches with a bunch of chemicals....

Funny you just posted this.

This past week I was restaining our dock, and just lightly stung on the shoulder. I haven't been stung in years so thought nothing of it.

10 minutes later I see another land on my hand and again barely sting me before I swatted it away. Damn you! I knew there was a problem.

I found there next neatly tucked up under the deck, well hidden and secured. Dozens and Dozens of them flying around.

They drew first blood, not me

I ran in with a broom and shattered the nest, ran out. Checked later that nite and there was still a softball sized nest there.

I went in again.



It was kind of funny, I shouted that and ran away like in that video Penitent Man posted. Left a half-dollar sized welt. Wife wanted ot know if we should call someone, "Nah this is personal".

I loaded up on leather armor for my chest and hat and went back in with a can of raid!



Emptied the can. Went in the next morning with a 2nd can.






Just as many on the ground.



Just checked and there is still more deeper within....
