I am wondering if anyone else has ever noticed how some people, mostly women, but some people seem to recall a great deal about the details of their personal lives. Things like meals they ate after an operation decades ago. They seem to know so much about themselves I can't help but wonder if it's not just a good memory but some kind of narcissism or solipsism. Although, come to think of it, I've known people absorbed with themselves with high levels of drama that seem to forget everything about their life. Maybe their trauma is too high and they forget, while others remember. I can only think this means someone thinks of themselves. A lot. Anyone have any theories?
I don't think there's any connection between a good memory and narcissism or solipsism. Knowing facts about oneself is one of the prerequisites of deeper self-awareness, but it does not initiate it. Memory merely creates the potential, although I think everyone has that potential regardless of their recall ability.
