I was definitely entertained when I watched it in the cinema, but thematically, it promotes/engenders sympathy for degenerate minorities and immigrants.
While never having seen the movie, I just read the plot on Wikipedia and it sounds like a metaphor for what's going on in the UK right now. A whole bunch of illegal "aliens" portrayed as refugees have landed in their country. The government relocates the sick ones to an internment camp that later becomes a ghetto and locals obviously don't want them there. Sounds vaguely similar, doesn't it?
I bet this film was made to prep the people of the UK and other Western countries to have sympathy for these strangers so they'd allow this real life invasion to happen instead of immediately booting these people out of their land.

What a pleasure to see these old movies sometimes, especially compared to the current ones, which just aim to shock you with insanity.
I pvr'd "Children of Men", having heard about the basic plot but never having seen the film.
As soon as I realized that the young black ex-prostitute female was going to be the mother/savior of humanity figure, I stopped and deleted it.
May I propose instead, 2 greatly entertaining films featuring Sir Alec Guinness:

I watched “The Substance” the other night (Demi Moore and Jeff Bridges). Was entertaining and interesting psychoanalysis/cultural film about the nature of American culture and vanity of women. Gets ridiculous towards the end and is far from a family Christian film (tons of nudity and extreme violence albeit comical gore towards the end of the film. It was entertaining and interesting. Could have been at least 15-30 min shorter in length however.

Watched Weapons to see what the hype was about. It start off as a pretty interesting quirky mystery but then it becomes incoherent garbage about halfway through. Tried to be deep, funny, scary and edgy at the same time and doesn't end up being any of them. Plus some extremely gratuitous graphic violence which was in poor taste. Not recommended.
Just watched Annie Hall and Manhattan back to back as a double feature and I gotta say the old jew himself was on fire artistically from 1976 to 1978. As a film actor Woody had great natural comedic timing during this era with lots of red pills about women and relationships. These were big projects for one man to pull off as a writer, director, and actor. Some funny jew pills as well with good self-depricating humor.
These films probably aren't for everyone and I realize they are steeped in neurotic and debaucherous Hollywood filth, but they kind of transport you back to the 1970's and simpler times. Some of the cinematography and shots in Manhattan are legendary and capture The City in all of its 1970's glory when a one bedroom apartment could still be had for only $400 a month.

Promethus. I had watched it in Theatres when it released back in 2012 and when I said I hated it, a friend of mines whom was a big fan of Aliens and Riley Scott, was deeply insulted by my takes on it. I remember feeling bad about expressing it given his reaction.
When I had watched it initially, I didn't realize there was a connection between Promethus and the Aliens franchise so perhaps I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
More than a decade later...
I got my wife to binge watch Alien, Aliens, (she loved Alien & Aliens btw, it was her 1st time watching) and then eventually Promethus. Even watching it in sequence, It was still terrible. I get that several scenes tried to make parallels with a few of the scenes in Alien but it just comes off as cringy and stupid especially now that the genre of "Space Horror" has been established. It even had quite the star power with their cast too but unfortunately, even they couldn't get me and my wife to like the movie.
It has decent comments on RottenTomato too. I don't understand why do people like this movie?

Alien Covenant which followed was even more retarded. These old franchises have been run into the ground now. The big problem I have with them is that the new ones destroy plot points or create continuity errors with the originals.
To my mind the most egregious of these is BladeRunner 2049. The original directors cut strongly suggests that Deckard is also a replicant. But in 2049 he is an old man who now lives in a bombed out abandoned Las Vegas for ....reasons.
I know the original cinema release with the "happy ending" might possibly work but generally the directors cut is considered the best, certainly for me at least. Even then it still does not make sense.

So, even not considering the laziness of reviving an old franchise, Prometheus didn’t have the courtesy of evolving a scene concept or narration in the Space Horror genre.
For instance, when they left behind 2 scientist at the Alien Facility, you can tell when they conceptualized that scene they wanted to recreate the feeling from Alien of the staff making bad decisions but what ended up happening was that the writing was so lazy that it ended up making the scientists retarded their way to death instead of making any effort for it to be believable.
The movie had an inevitability dumb plot because it tried to force an explanation upon something that required no explanation. The aliens in the original two movies were frightening partly because they were mysterious and inexplicable, otherworldly humanoid insects that piqued the imagination. Foisting an origin story upon the audience ruined all that. Especially one with gigantic pale bald men playing around with CGI black tar. And Guy Pearce wearing an old man costume and the worst makeup I’ve seen on film.
Prometheus and Covenant were hot garbage. There's an interesting thematic connection that ties them to the original Alien and Blade Runner, but overall, they're not good.
I recommend you watch Romulus. It was pretty good, a spectacle in the theater.

What are some good WWII movies (with minimal propaganda)? My son has been into WWII weaponry and machinery for a while now (knows all about them) and wants to see them in action. He really wants to watch Memphis Belle, for example. He's not interested drama, romance, or too much dialogue. (He will love Master and Commander when he discovers his love for British Navy conquests next lol).
He won't be watching these alone and we would skip parts that are inappropriate. Are there any movies you all would suggest?

Focus on older movies, as they used flight-capable replicas and even genuine WW2 aircraft, not CGI slop. And stick to the Pacific theater to avoid fratricide glorification.
Best of both (IMO) is the 1970 movie: Tora! Tora! Tora!
