The H1B Thread

Several years ago I was working in the IT department in one of those giant tech firms that we (the US) are essenitally handing over to India for free. Seeing it first hand is probably one of the reasons I got "red pilled." Most of my coworkers were from India and yes, although I'm not an alpha male type at all there was this strange and, honestly, kind of enjoyable feeling of always being the "Chad" in the room compared to them.

I’m cautiously optimistic. I assume a legal challenge and a []UDem judge will put an injunction on this[/U].
Not sure if you heard what Trump did on Day 1.
Multiple officials within the Justice Department's Executive Office for Immigration Review -- the DOJ's office that oversees immigration courts -- have been removed from their positions, a source familiar with the matter told ABC News.

This moves are part of the new Trump administration's overhaul of immigration policy and enforcement.

Unfortunately, they just need to find one federal judge who agrees with them and they can strike down the order or parts of it. They will sue and it will work its way through the court system.

No difference in having to wait 21 years for the Indian to sponsor their parents.

Have you seen a small Indian family? Each will have 3-5 kids. So 21 years won’t make that much difference long-term.

According to ChatGPT, Indian community grew 50% from 2010 to 2020.

Luckily India is not a neighbor country.

Big changes are underway for U.S. visas, quietly.

The age of cheap, temporary H-1B labor is ending.

The Trump administration isn’t just slowing new approvals. It’s laying the groundwork to make visa sponsorship financially painful.

Under the H-1B Modernization Rule and USCIS’s new fee schedule, costs are rising.
And now, wage floor increases are back under review, targeting exactly how much employers must pay to keep a visa worker.

This isn’t about protecting workers.
It’s about shrinking demand without needing Congress.

These changes affect existing visa holders.
If your role is up for renewal, transfer, or amendment, your employer may soon face higher wage requirements or new documentation standards.

Promotions may be delayed.
Transfers could be reconsidered.
And companies are already rethinking whether H-1B staffing is worth the long-term cost.

They’re starting to prioritize workers they can keep permanently. That means U.S. citizens.

If you're on a visa and in a cost-sensitive role, understand this clearly. The pressure is already building.
