China is extremely overpopulated, with billions of people. Given that, they are doing a very good job at improving things, compared to similarly overpopulated India which is drowning in squalor and is a chaotic mess. Of course, things are not perfect, but where are they perfect?
I am grateful to China for helping Russia, even though I disagree with a lot of things, like with their corona measures and high level of tech surveillance dystopia. But they have completely different culture there, that can not be measured by Western standards. I don't even see the point in comparing them to the West, their mentality and traditions are completely different. What might be shocking to the Westerner is a normal thing to them, and vice versa. China is a thousands years old civilization and they have strong collectivist tradition (may be the very reason they had survived for thousands of years as people), say, corona measures appalling to the Western mind might seem like a normal thing to them. They go with the flow and with the majority, not questioning, this is the tradition. Personal sacrifice for the nation is highly praised in their culture and it's been this way for a very long time. It might be incomprehensible for the Westerner, why sacrifice something or self in highly individualistic society that operates like a business. There are around 7.000 shopping malls in China, and if this is the worst you could find in terms of structural collapses, then I'd say they're doing OK.

The lower IQ propaganda approach is to show a footage of something bad happening in a distant place and extrapolate from that whole theses on the state of a country.
