Situation in the Red Sea (Houthi Thread)

Houthis announced sanctions against American companies exporting oil to Israel, as well as their executives and tankers.
On one hand this sounds just like a PR stunt, since Houthis don't have any instruments to impose these sanctions. On the other hand they could start attacking companies which conduct business with them.

In other news, there's no news about the fate of "Minervagracht", attacked by the Houthis and abandoned by her crew 2 days ago. The only footage available at the moment was posted by the EU operation Aspides, but it doesn't show how bad is the damage.

New video from "Minervagracht" taken by one of the crewmen soon after the strike.

Part of the deck and the superstructure were damaged and there's fire inside, but there's nothing suggesting that the hull was breached. If so, then the risk of her sinking is somewhat low.

"Minervagracht" update - fires completely subsided and there are no signs of a hull breach. She's adrift, but salvageable.

Unfortunately one of the sailors has passed away.

"Falcon" - a Cameroon flagged, India owned gas tanker is ablaze and adrift in the Gulf of Aden after suffering an explosion. The crew (1 Ukrainian, 25 Indians) abandoned ship. 24 of them were picked by nearby merchant vessels, 2 are missing. EU naval forces are responding - a Greek frigate is en route and France dispatched a helicopter.

According to the Europeans it was an accident, however Brits claim she was struck by an unknown projectile.

So far Houthis didn't claim responsibility.

I would hate to be the one trying to put a fire out on an LNG tanker. Imagine if the gas in that thing blows!

I don't think they'll even try. She's over a hundred miles at sea and the nearest port with professional fire tugs is even further - in previous incidents tugs had to be called from the Persian Gulf/Emirates. Maybe the Greek frigate will try to work with water cannons.

More details on the "Falcon".
While her AIS was showing a course from Iraq to Djibouti, the vessel was identified as part of the Iranian shadow fleet and is suspected of actually sailing from Iran to Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen. If so, then the incident raises some questions.
Martin Kelly, Head of Advisory at EOS Risk Group, raised the possibility of either a Houthi misidentification or Israeli sabotage. He said analysis of the Falcon indicates the vessel is part of what the United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) organization calls the “Ghost Armada,” which identifies illicit maritime trade involving Iran. “FALCON is probably carrying Iranian cargo,” according to the Kelly.

Update on the "Falcon":
She's still adrift and on fire. 2 sailors remain missing, 24 rescued were taken to Djibouti onboard a passing by merchant vessel. SAR operations continue, salvage will be taken care of by a private company. The initial claims about an unknown projectile strike couldn't be corroborated. Houthis deny their involvement.

New insurance fraud method just dropped? Blame it on the Houthis, no one is the wiser...

I doubt that's the case with the "Falcon" since she's an alleged Iranian shadow tanker. But some other ship - why not? The Red Sea crisis is definitely used by shipping companies to overcharge for their services, a good example of it is the "Petalidi" a Greek tanker currently sailing to Syria with a load of Saudi crude oil, taking the long route around Africa.
