I think this is the spring to revive my old DRZ400. It's been sitting for 3 years now, so I am sure there is a list of chores to follow in order to get it back running safely.

Anyone have any special little tips on order of operations here? The weather is getting nice and there are some backcountry spots I want to check out before the summer hordes.
 
^Change the oil, drain the gas too, make sure there is no rust in the tank, clean the plug, clean the carburetor, recharge and check the battery to see if it holds charge.

If it's been stored in a good place for 3 years you could just change the oil and gas, and run it if it starts quickly and revs well on neutral. If the tire pressure is low but not anywhere near flat, just ride to the nearest garage and inflate them.

Japanese 4-stroke monos are very hardy, shouldn't be much of a project getting your Suzuki up and running, DRZs are great classics!
 
Just clean the chain with WD40 and do everything else Coops said, greasing the chain will just attract unwanted grime during your first run.

Great bike mate it deserves a good flogging.
