It matters in politics.I feel for these people, and I'm glad they've got their freedoms back, but being a victim of unjust persecution isn't a quality in itself.

If I had been there that day, I would have gone in.You mean people gullible enough to be walked by the capitol police into a trap.
Perception wise - sure. And many of them have showed an incredible spirit in captivity, which is something that the current crop of congrescritters is lacking. But if they do go into politics, it shouldn't be based on their imprisonment in itself - many of them enterded plea deals, for reduced sentences - but on the strenght that some of them showed. It matters in politics.
For those concerned over delay in Pam Bondi’s confirmation vote, don’t fret. Major changes already underway at DOJ.
Emil Bove, the president’s lawyer in NY and FLA cases, now acting deputy AG.
Omeed Assefi, who worked for Pres Trump first time around as counsel in the DOJ Civil Rights Division, is now interim asst attorney general of the Antitrust Division. He’ll give it good to Big Tech even tho they are groveling before the president now.
Ed Martin is acting DC US attorney.
That’s just a few improvements.
Trump huddled with advisers until the 11th hour trying to decide how many to pardon and where to draw the line between violent and peaceful protesters. An adviser told Axios that eventually “Trump just said, ‘F*** it: release ‘em all’,” gambling that his honeymoon period with the party would provide cover and leaving his team to deal with the fallout.
Check out how badly they treated the proud boys in prison.
Reminder that as recently as a few months ago, the FBI was still hounding J6ers with early morning raids (a socal raid of note elsewhere on forum).
The rot goes deep - and it isn't isolated to a few locations. These J6ers were rounded up across the country, for the previous 4 years, with all levels of LE involved (think of all the "counter-terrorism" task forces, that include local cops as well, that were activated to affect these raids).
The prosecutions were malicious and excessive. The trials were a miscarriage. The judges ruled almost exclusively in favor of prosecution (such, in a jurisdiction famous for leniency to violent criminals, including BLM/Antifa types that stormed the Trump 45 White House). Judges created unjust new legal precedence to convict totally peaceful J6ers (drop in the lake principal = guilt by association). The jury was stacked with imperial servants. They worked every FBI field office into the dragnet. They worked countless local LEOs into the dragnet. They raided with impunity - under false color of law - using warrants from the politicized DC Court and Washington Field Office (jurisdiction shopped) to operate nationwide. I remember talk about the US Capitol Police establishing offices around the country to simply pursue this matter. The rot is deep and wide.
Releasing J6ers is a great first step, but there's much more to do.
