The French have been in Iraq for years as part of the anti ISIS coalition, codename Operation Chammal. There is no 'snitching', it's a widely known fact, use Google Trita. Kurdistani in general are contented with the presence of Western forces because they don't trust the Arabs leading the central government (whether Sunni or Shia), and the Western bases are a hedge against any Baghdad moves.
