Probably uneven wear because of misalignment of the suspension, but there is still one - three twelfths of an inch of rubber when a tire is considered worn out and unsafe, which leaves enough for this scam.
This is exactly why I always take cash with me on road trips. You can't hack a piece of paper. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
Tyres have weight ratings for a reason, when the rubber meets burning hot asphalt thickness matters.

As crazy as this is, I think Indian drivers need a good dose of fear that this might happen to them. They drive like lunatics. It's good that this will make them think twice before speeding.

I maintain we need more trains in India as trains are the the apex predator in that country. There’s no way for an Indian to see a train coming and they can show up anywhere

I’m not sure who I’d be more afraid of as far as tigers or lions. Or wild elephants for that matter. I think I’d be able to see or hear the elephant coming and hide. Lions and tigers are way too fast .
