The digital-ID hasn't yet passed in Greece. For now, they only want to issue a digital unified number for all purposes (social security, taxes, driver's license etc). And whatever they are planning, they won't be able to complete.

How can you be so sure? Are there solid reasons to think so? Help me believe.

The implementation could move quick. It doesn't seem like an excuse is even necessary. My circle of friends and acquaintances are all on conservative side but for some reason when I bring up this topic the response is mostly indifference to it. The media seems to have kept the US siloed from what is happening in Europe as well. I think people are fairly primed for it given all the payment apps available on the phone, AI use, etc. If people are told it means more convenience there will be little pushback. Even if people have reservations they'll think it's just another technological type of progress to get used to.

While there is going to be digital ID for layer 7 applications (social media, normie platforms, pornography, netflix, app stores), the protocols are wide open and always will be. There will always be alternatives to the beast system. If you want a list of technologies to look into, let me know.

I'm pretty upset my conservative friends are completely limp on this issue. Musk moving over to champion the conservative side is great and all but it also has lulled conservatives who would have been otherwise critical thinkers on some of this stuff into thinking that doing more tech with anything as long as it has a conservative tag means winning.
