In Vitro Fertilization

Wait, can we call this rape and charge the perpetrators with a crime? Or can we call rape “wrongful insemination” and just make it a civil offense? Fresh new euphemism (spare me the lecture on intent please). I suppose maybe she really did have Jamaal’s baby by accident this time. What a nightmare society.

Also, if the couple can sue the hospital for wrongful insemination on the basis of being "stripped of the unifying bond of creating shared life" while also being "permanently reminded" that their firstborn child was a mistake, does this mean a husband can sue an adulterous wife on the same basis? Or what about suing a woman for having an abortion?

Technically anyone can file a lawsuit on whatever grounds they can think of. Whether or not it gets dismissed is the question :ROFLMAO:

A failed marriage gets “ugly” in China after a man sues his wife for delivering an unattractive baby. “I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues,” he reportedly said. “Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me.”

Fengs initial response was that his wife must have cheated on him because he was confident that he could never father an ugly child. After a DNA test proved paternity, his wife came forward with a huge secret. She admitted to going to South Korea and undergoing over $100,000 of cosmetic surgery before they had met.Feng divorced his wife after feeling that his wife duped him into believing she was beautiful. He filed a lawsuit on the grounds of false pretense and was recently awarded $120,000.

We should not be meddling in reproduction and it’s astounding how few people have contemplated the implications, downstream effects, and ethics of what is now done regularly (and with tax payer dollars in the US).

The baby looks like him though.

is it just me, or is this happening a lot lately? What is the “per capita” rate of IVF mixups?

“The parents, who were described as being “racially Caucasian,” discovered that Baby Doe was of a different race. Genetic testing found that Baby Doe has no genetic relationship to either parent, according to the lawsuit.

“Of equal concern to the Plaintiffs is the obvious possibility that someone else was implanted with one or more of their embryos and is pregnant with or has been pregnant with and is presently parenting one or more of their children,” the lawsuit said.”

We need more of this so people will just lose all trust.

None of this should ever have been allowed.

Oh yea, but age gaps are bad. lol

Yup. Weird thing is the clinic they used is flooded with Google reviews from Indians. Bonus points for the doctor too:

It’s a very sad situation that never should have happened.
Yeah I can’t even fathom that, for the parents or the kid. The consequence of some weird science where the parents wind up with a child that isn’t theirs and a kid who will grow up to find out he’s with the wrong parents, whom he’ll certainly learn don’t want him (given the fact they sued the hospital that’s actually a matter of public record). He can actually say he was a mistake and be totally founded in that belief. Imagine living with all that. God have mercy.
