Halloween

I don't think Halloween has to be something negative towards Christianity, you can see it as just a novelty like Valentine's Day or whatever else. I think it's wholesome, something for kids to enjoy and seeing kids happy is one of the great joys in life.

I personally love Halloween for no reason other than it's an occasion to have fun which seems to be in short supply in this world. Don't get me wrong it disgusts me that girls use it as an excuse to dress like sluts but not all of them do that, I know plenty of attractive girls who keep it as something fun and tasteful.

Up until about ten years ago I hadn't dressed up for Halloween since I was 12. Well those ten years ago my closest friend had just found out his fiancé was cheating on him the whole time, a familiar story to me, and he begged me to go out, said he needed to go have a good time. Being the good friend I am I said screw it let's rock, if I was going to dress up for Halloween there is only one thing I would want to dress up as. It was all of 4 hours before the party and I have no creative talents whatsoever so I'm really proud of my homemade costume and love wearing it.

I dress up as Goku every year and always will haha

You might want to blur that photo just a little.

"My dears, just in case I want to remind you - Orthodox Christians do not celebrate Halloween. We do not celebrate it at all, in any form. There are many secular holidays (New Year, King's Birthday, etc) which we can celebrate without problems.

The "holiday" when we have fun together with evil spirits, from whose power the God-man Jesus Christ delivered us with his precious Blood, is a disgusting act that offends God and his His Holy Church. "

I take the line above on halloween personally, however people should ask their own priest if they have any doubts.

Its a cliche at this point but really "talk to your priest" is the definitive answer to this, there are Orthodox people in this thread who come down on both sides of this issue. Someone coming here for an answer will likely just find the one they agree with already. The real answer is the one your priest gives you

Haha okay so I live on the whitest leave it to beaver street in the USA and this girl I know always joked that I'm the only one without a porch goose, some even have two porch geese and I have none! Well one Easter she got me a porch goose with a homemade rabbit costume for it, it's so cute I don't want to set it outside and destroy it so I leave him looking out the side light.

I never knew this was a thing! I found this with a search for porch goose. Apparently you can collect the whole set!

Edit: While the porch goose is new to me, I do recall that porch pelicans are common along coastal North Carolina.

Mating habits of the midwest.

Nothing wrong with kids dressing up as superheros and collecting candy.

This whole 'Halloween-is-evil' movement is pathetic.

Sometimes all you have to do is use a bit of common sense than to ask a priest or religious person.

Sure, nothing wrong with some cosplay and candy - although it would be much more fun in the summertime.
But a lot of people take it in a darker direction - gory costumes, binge watching horror movies, occult games, etc.
