How much do you pay for a haircut? Do you go to a barber? Salon? Aunt Lou?

I'm convinced I'm paying too much so I'm curious how much and where you guys go.

Additionally, I think haircut prices are discriminatory against balding men. Not that it impacts me....

I pay $30 at a strip mall franchise place every three to four weeks. Not my first choice, but the old Chinese lady who'd been cutting my hair for years had to close up her shop in 2020 and now she works there. She's always done a great job which is why I followed her to the franchise place, but I'm paying almost double what she used to charge and I can't make an appointment at this place like I could at her own shop.

$25 plus tip.
It's all about how well someone can blend. I have thick hair so it's often a challenge. I don't like it too trendy close but I also don't like to see lines in my hair.
I'm getting better results at salons with "scissor over comb" method instead of clippers.
I had a guy cut my hair and he seemed to have better eye hand coordination so that's my preference.

I pay $40, $45 with tip, at my barbershop. But i get a really nice haircut that looks great, and cheaper places can't do it well. i only go once every 2 or even 3 months though. I get it cut short enough to last a while and just wear a hat when it gets messy.

For an older dude, I'm lucky to still have a thick head of hair. Against my wife's wishes, I used to let my daughter -- then my nieces who are younger -- shave my head in the summer using the #1 guard.

They've all aged out and aren't interested anymore in such hijinks, so now it's Wondercuts down the street every 8 weeks. $20 plus $10 tip (cash, of course).

I have long hair (almost to my shoulders) and I get it trimmed about 3x per year. I pay about the equivalent of $30 USD, including tip.

Actually, I'm very similar to this, but my beard is better. By mid-year my hair should be about this length.

We must be twins brother, though the colour of the hair and beard is similar, I've never had long hair.

Also if we're going off this picture i'm way more ripped than this dude and I would likely have blood stains on my shirt after returning from a successful hunt or something very hard and difficult to accomplish outdoors.

I bought a wahl shaver for 20 or 30 bucks and a set of guards at 1.25 inch, 1.5 inch, and 2 inch for 7. Takes me about 20 minutes to get an acceptable trim. I think I do 1.5 on top and 1.25 everywhere else.

Used to go to this barber in town but he's an annoying manbaby who gets mad if I go elsewhere for a haircut once. My shaving setup paid for itself the first time I used it.

I pay around $23 Australian dollars per haircut in Sydney, Australia which works out to just under $15 U.S dollars.

That is for a fairly basic cut (number 1 on the sides and number 2 on top). I typically get my haircut once a month on average so not really worth the hassle of cutting myself to save $15 a month. The barber does a good enough job.

By the way just as an aside cost of living in the U.S.A. seems to be getting out of control. I remember when I was a kid in U.S.A. due to so much business competition for consumer dollars and affordable housing U.S.A. used to be cheaper than a lot of the other first world countries now its among the more expensive ones. Still not at Switzerland or Norway price levels yet though.
