Donald Trump

Not if they just rinse the inside of the cups, ignoring the outside where your lips would touch. Regardless, I will still ask for straws since I don't like having a wall of ice against my teeth when taking a sip.
Where are you eating? An Indian side walk stand?

A washing machine, which all health inspected, is required in all restaurants in Texas. I'm sure all other places have health codes in the US that are comparable.

Many bars I have been to have the three sink system: soapy water, the fresh water, and the disinfectant rinse. The bartender swishes the glass vigorously in each sink, then sets it to drain and dry. I believe this does a good job on drink glasses.

It wouldn't do for plates, but I think those go back to a powered dishwasher in the kitchen.

At my restaurant, and the ones I worked in before going into the military, you had a pre scrub station, then a hi powered dish washer. Generally restaurants rent these and the maintenance services through a contracting company.

The sink and hand wash could work but it's not healthy code Approved that I'm tracking, but maybe so with certain protocols.... But I'd do it at the house no problem.

Note: The fact that an AIPAC run poll “Do you support Israel” pops up first thing on this article is not lost on me.

Friends who worked in food service strongly advised me to use a straw. Those cups aren't cleaned nearly as thoroughly as you may think. That's why they give you straws.
It's the ice you have to worry about. I worked in refrigeration, and used to service ice machines. You wouldn't believe how disgusting it was. Anybody that works on ice machines knows this, and never orders any drinks with ice.

Yea I'll vouch for that, we had a massive industrial ice machine at our store and we bagged our own ice. Did not matter how many times we cleaned it, I never used the ice from the store. Luckily 99.99999% of it was used for alcohol.

Listening to Trump today talk to the press in the Oval re: future relations with Russia and China gives me tremendous hope. I paraphrase, "We spend a trillion on military, China spends $400 billion. Why do we need to be spending so much? I'm going to be talking to them - especially Russian and China - about why do we need to spend so much money on military when we could spend that money doing so many other things? We're going to talk about de-nuking. Why do we need to spend money building nuclear weapons? We have plenty and so do they. We can spend money doing so much better things."

Not in my 40 years on earth have I heard an American president speak so frequently and directly about peace.

I truly believe that Trump wants to have a legacy of peace that he can pass to his grandchildren. Maybe that's a little pollyanna of me to say, but I can hope.

Can we please take the hygiene & cleaning of glasses, drinking straws, dishes and cutlery discussion somewhere else.
This is the Trump thread....not the restaurant & bar bacteria avoidance thread.
